How has UNICEF been involved with Helping Children in Recent Months?

Sharing is caring!

As an organisation UNCEF is dedicated to protecting children around the world and trying to make sure they have the best life that is possible for them. Sadly there are plenty of areas of the world today where the work of UNICEF is badly needed. There are many children who would struggle to survive if it wasn’t for the UNICEF workers and the contributions of people across the globe.

UNICEF personnel are always kept busy but recently there have been several specific locations and tasks with which they have been involved. You can volunteer abroad at the UNICEF website & make a difference today.

The humanitarian crisis in Iraq

This situation keeps on escalating and the children of the region are suffering as a result. Many people have been displaced from their homes and are trapped in the Sinjar Mountains, or are suffering from ill effects after being brought out of the mountain area. As an organisation UNICEF is providing food, rehydration solutions and tents to provide nourishment and shelter for the children affected, and their families.

Syria Crisis Appeal

This UNICEF appeal is intended to help a whole generation of children in the country who are at risk both physically and emotionally after living amidst conflict for four years. The economy of the country has been severely damaged and there is a lack of food and provisions available. The appeal is intended to raise money to provide for the children growing up amongst the devastation.

The children of Gaza

Whatever the political rights and wrongs of the situation in Gaza it’s the children who are suffering the most. It’s difficult to imagine how terrifying it must be for them being in the middle of such a violent and destructive situation that they don’t really understand. UNICEF personal are there visiting hospitals and providing emotional care and support for children who have witnessed endless terror. The situation is made worse by the fact that there is nowhere safe to hide; even the schools are under attack with over one hundred and forty of them having been destroyed.

The disaster of South Sudan

The children of South Sudan are also no strangers to conflict and they too are suffering as a result. There is a severe lack of food and fresh water in the country which has led to the spread of cholera. UNICEF workers are there to provide fresh water and to care for the emotional wellbeing of these children.

The work goes on

It’s a sad fact that the need for children’s charities such as UNICEF doesn’t look as though it’s going to end anytime soon. There are so many conflicts going on across the world, with people being displaced from their homes, that the work of UNICEF is being required more and more. It’s important that they continue to get the support of people to carry on providing the vital service to children that they do. There would be a lot fewer children in the world if it wasn’t for UNICEF, and a lot more suffering with no help to end it.
