‘Whatever It Takes’ by Lindsay Paige Book Tour

Hello and welcome to the final stop in the Whatever It Takes by Lindsay Paige Charisma Media Book Tour!

Whatever It Takes is about an average couple, Jake and Emily. They’re busy with their jobs and schooling, and Jake is an aspiring NHL star. They both deal with the struggle of finding time to spend together, like any other couple nowadays. Having miscarried a baby four months earlier, they’re also still grieving the loss in their own ways. Jake doesn’t think about it as much as Emily does and she doesn’t understand how and why he’s like that, and she hides her grief from him. She has a good guy friend who she talks to a lot about the miscarriage because his mother went through the same thing, but things went a little farther and he ended up kissing Emily and Jake saw it. Jake and Emily spend some time apart and realize that they can’t live without each other. They spend the holidays together and Emily gets into an accident and loses her memory. She has no idea who Jake is. Will she remember? Jake will do whatever it takes to get his Sweetness back.

This book made me cry a few times. First off, I could never imagine losing a baby, whether it be through miscarriage or after the baby was born. And there’s no way I could grieve by myself. I know I would definitely need the help of my partner to get through it. Then when Emily gets into the accident and loses her memory, I couldn’t even imagine how Jake feels – to see the person you love with all your heart not remember who you are? How heart wrenching would that be? But I’m so glad that he refused to give up and wanted to help her. That’s true love right there.

The author, Lindsay Paige, is from North Carolina. When she’s not writing, she is working to prepare for college. Her loves include reading, listening to music, watching and playing tennis and hockey (Go Pittsburgh Penguins!), and being with her friends and family. She got started in writing when after watching a video of Nicholas Sparks’ house, her mother made the comment that she should write a bestselling novel since Lindsay “reads so much” that way they could have a beautiful house as well. Lindsay wasted no time and began working on Sweetness and a year later it was complete. Many aspects of the characters in Sweetness were inspired by Lindsay’s own struggles, such as a recovering alcoholic father and the anxiety Emily suffers because of her past. Lindsay has published three novels, which are Sweetness, I’m Yours, and Whatever It Takes. You can follow Lindsay on her blog and Twitter!

It seems it is time for me to fess up. Maybe this is the time to share with Jake the items I take out every now and then.
No.
The thought echoes and bounces around my head. That is something I can’t and won’t do just yet. Taking a deep breath, I share more with Jake. Everything comes out too quickly and tears overflow. I tell him how terrified I am of getting pregnant and losing another baby. T o make him understand why I am scared and sad over this tragedy, I explain to him about how the baby was the only being that was a combination of us both. Jake wraps both arms around me and kisses the crown of my head.
“Sweetness, think about the sunrise we watched that day at the cabin. You said that no matter what, we were worth fighting for. You have to fight. You need to remember that we are going to make the best of the situation together. Don’t forget that you promised you wouldn’t run away from me. We promised each other that we would work through this together. Keep that in mind Sweetness.”
