All About Paleo and Paleo Meal-Prep

The Paleo diet is not a new way of eating, but as with many healthy lifestyles, it is trending back into popularity. This style of eating is meant to take us back to a time before overly processed food and overpopulated fast food choices.

What is the Paleo Diet?

Paleo is typically a prefix that means old or ancient. In this case, Paleo is the terminology used for an eating lifestyle that involves reverting back to the “old days”.

The Paleo diet takes a step back in history, to a time when the stores didn’t carry myriads of heavily processed foods boxed up and mass manufactured, a time where the food on the table was typically foods that could be hunted or gathered. These foods are considered whole foods.

The purpose of the Paleo diet is primarily to maintain a healthy lifestyle, as we are feeding our bodies foods that are naturally rich in nutrients. In the time of hunters and gatherers, there seemed to be much less disease that was related to diabetes, obesity, or the heart. Studies show that the Paleo diet can maintain a healthy weight but can also be beneficial to weight loss.
