3 Helpful New Technology in Cars for the Whole Family

It’s funny to think about how fast technology develops, isn’t it?

It feels like just yesterday we were happy when we were able to automatically roll down the windows of our cars or even had an outlet cable to plug in our electronic devices. Nowadays, these features are standard in new cars, and for our children, they don’t know of a world without them.

Some of the coolest new technology in cars have become more widespread in recent years, and these three have been great for family travel.

  1. Keyless Functions

You might be one of those people who have like a thousand keys on your keyring, and digging around in your pocket, purse, or bag is a hassle. This becomes a bigger problem when you have to drop off your kids at school, get gas, drop off mail, all before you have to go to work.

Auto manufacturers definitely took notice of this inconvenience and have introduced keyless technology in cars. While you’ll still need to keep an electronic key fob with you, with keyless car functions, you can simply press a button or make a motion, and things that normally needed a key to be used, like opening a door, can be done with the click of a button.

You probably would have never imagined starting your car with just the push of a button or opening your trunk without your hands. This type of technology might not be groundbreaking, but it sure is helpful.

  1. Rear View Cameras

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been paranoid about accidentally backing up into a pole, the car behind me, or at worst hitting another person. It becomes even harder when you have children in the back who decided to get some play fighting in before soccer practice.

With the rearview camera, you have a much better picture of what’s going on behind you. There’s still a chance you might accidentally back into a trash can, but your odds of avoiding most major accidents will greatly increase with a rearview camera.

Not only is a rearview camera useful, but it’s also required by law for new cars to have them

  1. Collision Avoidance Systems

It goes without saying, but car collisions and accidents are no fun for anyone. Getting your car repaired is costly, and should any of your kids get hurt, things go from bad to worse.

While not as widespread as some of the other technologies mentioned, collision avoidance systems are a great benefit for drivers. These systems use a radar, sometimes a laser or camera, to detect if you’re about to collide with another car or object.

If the system detects your car is about to collide with something, it will alert the driver, and in some cases, will brake or steer autonomously to avoid the collision.

You may feel that all of this new technology is overwhelming or even confusing, but it’s been designed to make your life easier. It takes some getting used to, but the benefits are worth it, especially for parents.
