5 Great Tips for Making School Lunches Fun

Sharing is caring!

Making school lunches and dinner has got to be two of the blandest activities that no one ever really warns you about when you become a mom, I suppose that’s because there is just so much other stuff that you need to know first so I get it – priorities. Trying to balance find the balance between healthy and fun is not easy but it’s also not impossible. Here are 5 great ways to make school lunch’s fun that you can even do when you’re in a rush.

  1. Add Variety

No kid ever in the history of kids has been excited to open their lunch box and see a PB&J every single day. Add some variety with brightly colored fruit and veggies as healthy snacks – you could even add a dip to go with it. Change things up with your choice of sandwich filling to keep things fresh and exciting. If your child is older you can send them with yummy leftovers that they can reheat at lunchtime.

  1. Let Your Kids Choose

I don’t mean let them choose in the literal sense – if kids got to choose then they would have ice-cream or chocolate and that’s strictly reserved for birthdays in our house. You can give them the illusion of choice by presenting them with preselected multiple-choice options. Kick things up a notch and make a lunch chart to go on the fridge – complete with fun aesthetic stickers, those your kids can choose though.

  1. Make Faces

The internet has given us the world at our fingertips and part of that world are super fun sandwich cutters in a variety of different characters. They’ll be delighted to open their lunch boxes even on the days where the sandwich itself might not be that exciting – consider this a great mom-hack.

  1. Add Jokes

Adding notes and jokes to your kid’s lunches will instantly brighten their days and they’ll come to expect one so you need to be consistent if you start this one. There are so many PG jokes available that you’ll have one for every day of school for years to come. If you do get bored of the jokes then you can also recall a happy or funny memory that you can remind them of just to put a smile on their face.

  1. Get Them Fun Lunch Boxes

Lunch boxes come in all shapes and sizes these days and, as we all know, kids love brightly colored things – especially if their favorite cartoon or comic book character is on them. Remember to get the matching water bottle to avoid seeing a sad face when they realize it isn’t a complete set…

Being a fun mom doesn’t have to take any kind of real effort or a ton of time so don’t let that put you off of trying. As with most things in life, it is the little things that matter the most. These 5 tips can be done in very little time and they are affordable and easy.
