5 Makeup Mistakes that Can Make You Look Older

Makeup

The major makeup mistake that people make is applying too much makeup to make them look youthful. Unfortunately, it works the opposite for most people. If you want to look young, apply less makeup and, if possible, create a habit to use makeup that makes you look natural.

As you age, you might want to hide the flaws with plenty of makeup, but experts advise you to keep reducing the amount of makeup as you age. You should instead blend to enhance your looks instead of masking them. Avoid these makeup mistakes that will make you look older.

Not keeping your brows and lashes full

One of the best ways to know if you are aging is to look into your eyes. The first things you will notice are wrinkles and spots. If you look closely, you will notice your eyebrows are thinning, and your lashes look more sparse than usual. Aging is a natural process, but you can blend your lashes with several tricks.

Fill your sparse lashes with false lashes to bring back your youthful look. If you choose the wrong lashes, you will look much older, but if you choose the right lashes for your eye shape, you will look younger. Your first step will be to know the shape of your eyes and then order eyelashes for every eye shape from Lilac St., Velour, Huda, or Sweed. Their DIY lash extensions and false lashes for any eye shape last long and are easy to apply.

Avoid a thick foundation

The purpose of the foundation is to make your skin tone even. It is the base upon which all others lay upon. If you make the foundation too thick, it will entirely hide the natural glow of your skin. Since your skin is mature, it might feel dry, and adding a thick layer of foundation will make your skin look masked. This will make you look older.

It will also show the foundation demarcation line below your jawline. Instead of using the foundation to cover your skin flaws, lay a thin layer of brightly colored foundation, then conceal the flaws with a concealer. It will give you a flawless look. You may add a layer of illuminating primer to hydrate your skin.

Do not overdo the concealer

The concealer is designed to hide the flaws on your skin, such as the aging spots. Since you know its purpose, the biggest mistake you can ever make is to want to conceal every flaw. The way you would do this is to apply loads of concealer until you watch every spot retrieve.

Too much volume of concealer will only multiply your years within minutes. It will create fine lines under your eye and make the wrinkles look more. Use the concealer sparingly by applying just a small amount. Stay within the darker areas of your eye, like the corners and the under part. Let the color of your concealer blend with your skin tone, but you should avoid a brighter concealer.

Choosing the wrong lipstick shade

The choice of lipstick shade becomes crucial as your age advances. As you age, your lip line will keep fading. Using the wrong lipstick color will bleed and feather on your lips. Avoid the bright colors or over dark ones. Go for something neutral that will blend with your skin tone. The best choice is to go for a clear lip liner that does not hide your lip color. One of the tricks to choose the right lipstick color is to look at the color of the veins in your wrist. If they look bluish or purplish, your skin tone is cool. If they look greenish, your tone is warm but if it falls in between, your tone is neutral.

Using too much powder

The powder is used to correct skin flaws but if you apply too much, it loses its purpose. You may have multiple powder spots on your face that look like someone splashed wheat floor on you. Your brows and lashes will have white spots, too, that will make them look ugly. Use only a small amount of powder to remove any greasy or glistening areas. If you apply powder around your eyes, the wrinkles will be more visible and your skin will look too dry.
