7 Great Ideas For The Perfect Sunday Breakfast

What is more enjoyable than a relaxing and delicious Sunday breakfast? It’s just the perfect time to put together a meal you’ll love there’s plenty of time to get it together, no deadline, and no fixed rules about what to cook and serve. In fact it’s totally up to you to decide whether you want to spend time at the stove at all! Whether you go for a healthy menu or opt for total indulgence, there are so many options to choose from.

Let’s get you started with a few ideas!

A big bowl of….

Thick Greek yogurt, for the perfect creamy and luxurious base. Add some cut fruits, some berries, a few chopped walnuts, and a drizzle of honey what could be more nourishing and delicious? If you want, add some oatmeal and let it soak for a while before eating. If you don’t have any greek yogurt in the fridge, cottage cheese or quark are both good substitutes

The perfect beverage

Leave the instant in the cupboard for weekdays. If you’re a coffee aficionado, Sunday is the time to brew the perfect cup. And if you want to savor your perfect blend but can’t obtain it locally, a monthly coffee subscription, with a top-quality supplier, could take your Sunday morning coffee enjoyment to the next level.

Or, if tea is your beverage of choice, leave the weekday teabags in their ornamental jar and go for a premium blend of loose black, green or herbal tea leaves. Just serve the resulting nectar from your finest china pot!

Pastries

Now, you’ll need something to go with those delicious beverages. Fresh pastries, warmed in the oven are the ideal complement with butter and jelly as an optional extra. To add extra interest, choose a less obvious condiment perhaps fig jelly or lemon curd. 

Juice it up

Even if you’re going for super indulgence, a healthy smoothie is always a welcome addition to a multi-course breakfast.  Berries, pineapples, and mangos all provide the sweetness. To make it creamier and smoother, you can either choose banana or avocado to combine with the other ingredients and whizz in your high-powered blender.

Or, if you’re a low carb, keto fan, just ditch the banana and stick to berries, avocado, and unsweetened coconut or almond milk. 

Eggs- the ultimate nutrition

If you want to escape from boring fried or scrambled eggs, there are so many options that only take a little longer.  For that special occasion, and when you have time to make a hollandaise sauce, it’s hard to beat Eggs Benedict

Make your omelet that bit more special by adding bacon, cheese, vegetables, and even potatoes to create your unique signature frittata. 

Or opt for an easy-to-prepare pan of Shakshuka, made with tomatoes, peppers, and mild aromatic spices, allowing your eggs to poach slowly in the juice a true taste of the eastern Mediterranean and perfect served with bread, fresh from the oven, to mop up the delectable juices.

Go traveling!

For the past year, we’ve all been more or less confined to base, and it may be a while yet before we’re able to travel and explore the fabulous cuisines that we encounter in other parts of the world. So why not make your Sunday mornings the moment to go on a mini culinary voyage of discovery? 

Choose a location you’d love to visit and theme your breakfast.  You’d been meaning to visit New Orleans? Prepare a Cajun-style hash! Or you’ve been dreaming of a trip to Sweden prepare some typical open sandwiches with a range of traditional toppings. Bananas and black rice in coconut milk that’s what you’d be served on your vacation in Bali try it!

Breakfast dishes provide the ideal way to sample traditional cuisine from around the world, with ingredients that are easily available here, and recipes that are usually uncomplicated and quick to prepare. 

Other ways to make it special

Sunday breakfast should be a high point of the weekend, and it’s the little touches that make it special. Your best table linen and your crockery, and maybe a few fresh flowers give a sense of occasion.  Weather and space permitting, sit outside to enjoy the fresh air while you sample the delicious dishes you just don’t have time for during hectic weekday mornings.
