Do you want to spoil your child with a cute Insta-worthy bedroom? Recreating a bedroom you saw online is easier than you think. You need to know how to match styles like a pro. We are sharing our guide to kids’ bedroom interiors for busy parents. We promise these design tips are fast, cheap, and easy to implement.

The Bed is the Room’s Focal Point and Where Design Should Begin

Your eyes immediately go to the bed when you walk into a room. We are trained to look for this first because it tells us everything we need to know about the space. After all, it is called a bedroom. So choosing a beautiful bed can’t be ignored.

A Princess Canopy or Traditional Daybed?

Beds for girls are tricky to get right. You need to balance function, space, and your child’s style. If not, they may crawl into your bed at night, and you’ll never get a good night’s sleep. Two beautiful choices for a girl’s bedroom are canopy and day beds.

A canopy bed will make your daughter feel like the little princess she is. You can add drapes on the high bed posts. The design is eye-catching, and she will feel like she’s in a princess’s castle.

Choosing a traditional daybed means you have more design choices. They come in a variety of colors and take up less space. You can position it against the back wall, doubling the available floor space

Is a Race Car Bed Worth It?

If you have a little boy, a canopy or day bed will make them bored. Boys have a unique taste that would make a girl uneasy. So, should you get that race car bed they’ve been asking about?

We don’t see why not, but a more functional bed would be a raised bed. You use the space above your head by placing a bed on raised posts. Then, you can use the space beneath the bed to create a personal library or play station.

The First Design Fundamental is to Create a Peaceful Sleeping Space

Children will sleep easier when bright lights are not surrounding them. As parents, you want your kid to sleep all night. When they get 8 hours of shut-eye, so do you.

Avoid Flashy, Loud Toys in the Bedroom

Flashy toys seem like a good idea when your child looks at them in Toys R’ Us. But the reality is they will disrupt sleep patterns. You want to create a quiet, dark sleeping place so your child can rest well. If you buy these toys, put them in a place that won’t disturb your child at night.

If you need a night light, choose a small plug light that matches the color of a room and provides just enough light. You want them to see if they need to go to the bathroom, but the light shouldn’t disturb their slumber.

Limit the Clutter

Interior design encompasses how a room looks and functions. It’s fine to have books, toys, and shoes in a room. All children need these to have a fulfilling childhood. At night, when they are sleeping, you should remove these toys from view.

You can do this with built-in storage or by taking the toys to another room. If you don’t have another place for distracting toys at night, designate a corner in their room.

Add Sound-blocking Curtains

Curtains are a fast and effective way to ensure your child has a peaceful sleeping environment. You can slap a pair of curtains over a window in about 10 minutes. If you have a full-time job, you don’t want to spend hours on interior design.

Purchase a set of thick blackout curtains, and you’ll kill two flies with one trap. Your child won’t be woken by noisy street cars or lamp posts. And you won’t feel someone tugging your shoulder at night, breaking your sleep cycle.

Use a Soothing Sound Machine for Tranquil Nights

Have a child who struggles to fall asleep or tosses and turns all night? A sound machine that produces soothing sounds can help them get to sleep faster.

Implementing this interior design choice is as easy as pouring coffee. We all know pouring a cup of coffee is what we do fastest on the way to work!

You can buy a sound machine specifically for soothing sounds or use an iPad. If you use an iPad, avoid having loud songs in the playlist so your child can rest through the night.

Tips From an Interior Designer for Busy Parents

As you decorate your child’s bedroom interior, try to understand the overall feel of the space. Is their room giving trendy or traditional vibes?

Choose colors to match the style for an unforgettable ambiance. Choose bedding and decor with expressive and rich colors so your child feels warm and fuzzy. Combining colors with the right bed and external stimuli is a fast and inexpensive way to give your child’s room a facelift.
