Are You Doing Your Skincare Routine the Proper Way?

Sharing is caring!

You might know how important skincare routines are to your skin’s health, but you’re still experiencing breakouts and dry skin. It can be frustrating dealing with these issues when you’re trying everything under the sun to cultivate glowing skin. If you’re worried that you’re not doing your skincare routine the proper way, here are some tips.

Properly Moisturizing

One of the best ways to keep your skin healthy is to moisturize it regularly, but many people don’t always do this properly. Don’t pick up moisturizers that are popular, or buy one because it works for your friend. Everyone’s skin is different, and your skin type might not respond the way your friend’s does. Try to purchase moisturizers that are high in fatty acids, or vitamin E, so they can nourish your skin the way it needs to be.

If you suffer from dry skin the best time for you to moisturizer is immediately following a shower, or after washing your face. You should only apply moisturizer to a clean face, if you don’t cleanse your face beforehand you risk trapping bacteria and dirt onto your skin. This can have the opposite effect and may reduce your skin quality, or cause breakouts.

It’s A Daily Routine

The most optimal way you can care for your skin is by performing a routine every day. If you’re not taking care of your skin on a daily basis this might be why your skin is underperforming. Just like you need to eat fruits and vegetables daily to stay healthy, your skin craves a routine so it can shine to its utmost. It’s important to include all aspects of skin care into your method, including exfoliation and moisturizing. According to Kryz Uy you can use products that both exfoliate and moisturize to cut down on your morning skin care routine. Get into the cycle of skin care and stick to it. Once you find a method that works all you need to do is make the habit stick. Make sure to check out this great post on Skin Care For New Moms.

Exfoliating

Most people know that they should exfoliate if they want healthy skin, but not enough people are actively engaging in it. If you didn’t know, exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin off your face (yuck). This can be done with either a mechanical scrub or chemical product. Dead skin does not have the healthy look that new skin does, and if you want to make your face appear vibrant you should be exfoliating.

It can also open up your pores and prevent bacteria from growing on your face causing acne (double yuck)., and include when you should be exfoliating. Exfoliating just takes a few minutes out of your day, and you only need to do it a couple times a week. You don’t want to be removing skin off your face everyday, because eventually you will end up removing healthy cells.

Papaya Extracts

If you haven’t introduced papaya extracts into your daily skin routine, it’s something you should consider. Papaya extracts act as a natural skin hydrator, but they can also even out irregularities in skin pigmentation. They also work with your natural body oils to combat acne, and are included in some exfoliating products. If you are looking for more weapons to add into your skincare arsenal this is an awesome form of product to use. There’s even recipes for making your own papaya skin care products at home if you’re on a budget.

Shower Frequency

Showering too frequently can reduce the amount of natural protection your skin has, and wash off the healthy oils. Your skin produces an oil called sebum which naturally inhibits bacterial growth. If you’re showering too frequently this can result in breakouts and more acne. The best frequency of showering is every other day, but if you work in a labour intensive field you may want to shower everyday.

It might take a few days for your body’s oils to adjust to your new showering schedule. You might notice a bit more oil on your skin for a week or so, but afterwards you’ll have a shining glow that’s just perfect. Remember your body has natural defenses against bad organisms, and you don’t want to take away it’s ability to defend itself.

You might not find the perfect skincare routine immediately, but don’t get frustrated. Even if your friends recommend a specific routine, this might not be the method that works for your skin type. Try different products and listen to what your body is telling you, you might find you respond better to moisturizing immediately after a nice shower. After you start doing your skincare routine the proper way, your body is sure to reward you with vibrant, glowing, skin.

When you exfoliate twice a week, you help your skin get rid of dead skin cells, which are making the skin appear dull and lifeless. It also helps unclog pores, which are the cause of skin inflammation and constant acne breakouts. […]
