When people think about winning the lottery they usually assume that it’s going to answer all of their problems and help them achieve everything they want in life. But they don’t think about the potential problems that can go along with that big win. After all, having a whole lot of money isn’t necessarily everything you would think. There’s a lot that goes along with those big jackpots.

Bankruptcy
A large number of people who win the lottery, and even those who win millions of dollars, have gone bankrupt within a few years of winning. There are a number of reasons for this, from those who spend the money recklessly to those who have been robbed or those who take an annuity option and spend more in a year than they are given.
Others have seen misfortune take their money away a little at a time, such as through lawsuits (even frivolous ones) and the loss of familial relationships. In the end, losing money is definitely a common occurrence for many winners.
Addiction
For too many people who win large amounts of money find themselves in some way plagued by addiction. Either a friend or relative gets addicted or they find themselves addicted. It might be gambling, drugs or alcohol, but no matter what it is these addictions can lead to serious health problems and can make life miserable for the lottery winner in a number of ways.
Addiction can also eat away at the money that they have, whether by direct spending on the addictive substance or by trying to help someone get clean’ through rehab and other programs. No matter how it happens, addiction most definitely destroys the money that someone can win and in a short amount of time.
Death
Sometimes it’s the person who wins the lottery that dies not long after. Other times it’s someone else that’s close to them. No matter who it is, it’s common for death to come not long after a lottery win, and some of it can be attributed to bankruptcy and to addictions as well. For the lottery winner, sometimes the death of a loved one can be too difficult to take and they commit suicide themselves.
No matter how it happens, there seem to be a lot of deaths that are tied in some way to the lottery and to wins of large proportions. But that doesn’t mean that it’s something you should avoid altogether. Because the truth is there are others who do manage to make things work.
Making the best of it
If you are looking to play the lottery one of the first things to do is make sure that you have a plan for if you win. That can help you prevent any of the misfortune that seems to come for others. And that starts with getting your ticket for any game you want, which you can find out more about right here.
