Best Beach Day Ever

Sharing is caring!

Well, we’ve (somewhat) made it! The days are getting longer and warmer; the world is opening up, and we’re ready to make our grand re-entrances in sweet, summer style. With so much to celebrate, our calendars are filling up at a pace that last summer, we could have only dreamt of. While this is beyond exciting, it can also be daunting! We’ve essentially spent the entire previous year in loungewear; what to wear? What to wear… Here’s a short list of things you can add to your life to make your summer plans and beach days the best they can be.

Skip the Simple

Lots of time was spent in lockdown working on the ever-important self-love. So many of us spent some time developing hobbies and routines that we could only do from the confines of our homes. For a lot of us, this looked like new physical activities. Show off your new body, mamas! And, if you’re curvy and you love it,  you better show off that bod too! This year, skip the boring beach styles and elevate your swimwear look with something new. Instead of basic black, shop for blue bikinis, printed one-pieces, and floral everything! There are so many websites to choose from but go out of your comfort zone on this one. As if you won’t be feeling super confident already, you’re sure to receive a ton of compliments when you stand out from the crowd.

Totes Adorable

Does your beach bag need an upgrade? Oversized totes aren’t just for packing for the weekend or hauling groceries anymore. Check out any fashion retailer’s website, and you’ll find these for sale with fun prints or verbiage that make a bold statement when you’re heading to the beach. Not only can you fit everything you could possibly need for a day at the beach in these (including towels), it can double as a cute and on-trend handbag when you’re out and about every day. Fashion totes are a must-have if you don’t already own one and honestly worth an upgrade or addition if you do!

Stylish Straw

Do you remember your grandmother’s straw or cane handbag? Did it probably get donated to a thrift shop a couple of decades ago? Bummer, right? Because these bags have been in trend for several years now. They’re a great transitional piece that can be added to your wardrobe at the start of spring and carry you through the final days of summer. They’re easy to dress up or down and be taken seamlessly from day to night. Straw bags are an incredibly easy way to take you from beach bum to sea chic in an instant. Most fashion websites sell these in all shapes in sizes, so go with one that fits your lifestyle, and you’ll be likely to use them over and over. If you’ve got little ones (who require a lot of items to leave the house with), a larger one will be your go-to. If you’re out solo most of the time, a smaller round basket bag will look amazing with anything.

SPF

There isn’t really much that needs to be said here that we haven’t all heard a million times, but please don’t skip the SPF this summer! Our skin is our largest and most delicate organ, and we owe it to ourselves to protect it. You want to make sure you’re applying at minimum an SPF of 30 and reapplying as necessary depending on how long you’re outdoors and what your physical activity looks like during that time. If you’re spending an entire day at the beach, you’ll need to apply every two to three hours. And, let’s face it – when our skin looks good – we look and feel our best! So, get your glow on; just make sure you’re doing it safely!

Hydration Maven

Make sure you’re also staying extra hydrated to have the best beach day ever. It’s definitely easy to get lazy when we’re packing for the beach and reach for sodas and sugary drinks to tote along with us, but the reality is, everyone will have a much better time if they’re nourishing their bodies with cold, fresh water. Drinking water also keeps you looking and feeling your best, which, as mentioned above, leads to a happier, more confident mama; And who doesn’t want that?
