Budget-Friendly Home Makeover Tips

Sharing is caring!

We’re all spending so much more time in our own homes than we ever have done before and because of that, more and more of us have been bitten by the decorating bug. But if you are looking to give your home a makeover and don’t have a budget as big as your ideas, don’t worry, we’re here to give you a few budget-friendly home makeover tips that won’t break the bank.

In this short post, we will give you some ideas to liven up your living spaces quickly, cheaply, and easily.

Rearrange the Furniture

Now, this seems like an obvious one to start off with but is often overlooked, and let’s not forget, it won’t cost you a penny. To instantly refresh a room, simply switch up a room’s furniture placement. If you think about it from a seasonal aspect, what the room’s focal point is in the winter won’t be the same as summer. For example, you may want the focus of the room to be the fireplace in the winter and say a bay window, where the light is streaming in at summertime.

Accessorise

Adding bright, eye-catching accessories to a room is a fantastic way to refresh and breathe new life into a space.  Have a play around with oversized, colourful cushions in fun patterns to scatter on your sofa or replace your tired old rug with a large, super stylish area rug to liven up the floor.

Create an accent wall

Painting and accent or feature wall, as it’s also known, is a great way to create a fresh new look in your room with minimal cost and effort involved. This is also ideal if you are not wanting to fully commit to colour in the whole room.

A few things to take into consideration are:

  • There is no right or wrong decision on which wall to accent but they look most natural when they are solid with no doors or windows.
  • Accent walls look best when they are painted in a darker shade than the other walls in the room.
  • If you already have a focal point in the room, i.e. a fireplace, it is best to highlight that wall rather than creating a new focal point.

If you are looking for inexpensive paint without compromising on quality, check out cheap designer paint, and look for sample sizes if you are wanting to try the colour out first.

Bookshelves Are Not Just for Books

These days bookshelves are no longer solely used for the purpose that they were designed for. If you have a bookcase or bookshelf at home, it is a fantastic way to display not only books and magazines but pieces of art, photo frames and even small plants. The way you curate your display can say a lot about your personality so don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

Declutter

Not only can a declutter have a dramatic effect on the look and feel of a room, but it can also have a positive impact on your mental health. Take a good look around and see what you can do without and what can be stored away. There are lots of chic and stylish storage options around to tie in with your existing interiors.

I hope you found these budget-friendly tips useful. Good luck on your next home makeover project!
