Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs grapes
  • 2 c sugar
  • ⅔ c water
  • ½ c light corn syrup
  • One teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 toothpicks or skewers
  • food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the grapes by Place toothpicks or skewers into the stem end after rinsing the grapes.
  2. Dry the grapes on a paper towel before dipping them in the syrup.
  3. Bring the sugar, water, and corn syrup to a boil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.
  4. Maintain the best possible bubbling by stirring frequently and not boiling the syrup.
  5. Cook for about 5 minutes to reach the desired temperature. A candy thermometer is needed to verify that the syrup has reached 300305 degrees Fahrenheit (148152 degrees Celsius). This is the stage of hard cracking, allowing the syrup to set on the grapes.
  6. Prepare a parchment-lined sheet pan, coat it with candy, then place the covered crack grapes and allow them to dry (wait for them to harden). Add vanilla essence to the syrup and mix well.
  7. Slowly soak each grape in the syrup, stir quickly to spread the syrup over the grapes, and sprinkle the
  8. covered grapes with the crushed Jolly Launcher flavour. Allow the coated crack grapes to dry on parchment paper for approximately 30 minutes. Lastly,  remove the toothpicks and serve after a few hours.

Tips on Candy Grapes Recipe 

A digital meat thermometer that can read up to 300 degrees F would suffice if you don’t have a candy thermometer (148 degrees C).

To test if the molten hot syrup has reached the hard crack stage, drop it into a basin or cup of cold water using a spoon or spatula. Complex threads that do not bend or break should be produced.

To speed up the candy coating process, place two or more grapes on each skewer to coat at the same time while the syrup is still soft and workable.

How to make candied grapes with corn syrup?

You can also make the candies grapes with Corn syrup, an invert sugar commonly used in many complex candy recipes. Invert sugar prevents sugar crystals from forming and gives hard candy, caramel, and other cooked sweets a smooth texture.
