Ingredients Needed

  • Unsalted butter: 1 cup
  • Kosher Salt: ½ teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour: 3 cups
  • Baking powder: 1 tablespoon
  • Semisweet chocolate chips/chunks: 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoon
  • Sugar: 1 ¼ cups
  • Packed brown sugar: ½ cup
  • Large eggs: 3
  • Flaky sea salt: 1 teaspoon (optional)

The ingredients are pretty easy to find in your kitchen; if not, you can rush to your nearest supermarket and get them before getting started. 

#NOTE: Make sure to use each ingredient in its measured quantity, as chocolate chip cookie cake is all about measurements and the right blend of flavors. 

Method of Preparation

You must have all the ingredients with; now, we can begin with the recipe. Follow the below steps and take note of each process to master the art of baking chocolate chip cookie in a skillet. 

Step 1 – Preheating

Before starting the recipe and mixing the ingredients, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and keep it ready for further baking. 

Step 2 – Greasing

After prepping the oven, you need to prepare the cast-iron skillet for the recipe. Just brush butter on the pan and grease it thoroughly. Make sure to moisture the pan as less moisture can lead to the sticky cake. 

Step 3 – Mixing

Step 4 – Creaming

Step 5 – Chocolating

Take the bowl of the flour mixture and mix it with the prepared cream. Blend the dough with the cream until it completely binds together. Once you have mixed the batter and cream, you can add the chocolate and beat the mixture until everything is combined. It is the most crucial part, where you need to check the consistency. Make sure that dough does not become quite hard when the chocolate is added. It should be a little gooey as you need your chocolate chip cookie cake to be soft.

Step 6 – Scraping

Once you are fully satisfied with the dough prepared, you can scrap it into the skillet, which you have already brushed and greased with butter. If needed, you can sprinkle sea salt over the mixture before outing it into the oven. 

Step 7 – Baking

Now put the skillet into the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until it is cooked from the center. Make sure to keep checking whether the dough is burning or not. 

Step 8 – Plating

When your chocolate chip cookie cake is ready, take it out from the oven and let it sit in the room temperature for at least 10 minutes before you serve it into the plate. It would be best if you allowed the cake to cool down before digging in.
