Comfort Meal Recipe – Mashed Potatoes, Creamy Mushroom Soup, and Red Wine Chicken Steak

A bad day can be fixed with a lot of things, one of those things is comfort foods, they are nostalgic and if done right they can heal souls. They have a sentimental value i.e that one kind of soup your mom used to make when you were sad, of course, the experience of comfort food differs from person to person but the one thing they have in common is that they’re delicious. We have curated a list of comfort foods that are easy to make and will make your taste buds thank you. The recipe we have here has three dishes, if prepared together it’s a fulfilling meal, it’s a whole course and everything can be eaten separately as well. 

1. Mashed Potato

These are the coziest side dish that there is, it is generally served with meat and potatoes on the side but the recipe is quite simple and one does tend to stuff their face with this when they need a hug.

Ingredients-

milk, butter, salt and pepper and of course potatoes 

  • Take 500 grams of Potatoes (make sure they are medium-sized) 
  • Two Cups of Water
  • Salt to tastes
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons of butter – salted or unsalted (if you are using salted butter then make sure that the salt you have to put otherwise is in moderation)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic – Properly chopped garlic minced or finely chopped
  • salt – add as required

Optional Ingredients-

-2 or 3 teaspoons fresh herbs/ dried mixed herbs

-Some black pepper 

How to Make Mashed Potato?

  • Step 1- Put potatoes, salt in a pot and let them boil until they are tender but still have some firmness left. It usually takes 15 minutes to drain.
  • Step 2- In a different saucepan heat butter and milk with low heat till the butter is melted,
  • Step 3- Put the potatoes in a blender or a masher and then eventually blend the milk mixture into the potatoes until it’s smooth. You will be able to make out that it’s creamy 
  • Step 4- Season it with salt, pepper, or herbs to taste.

2. Cream Mushroom Soup

This is a great recipe for all seasons, cream mushroom soup doesn’t require a lot to prepare it but just because you can prepare it easily doesn’t mean that it doesn’t taste amazing.

All you need is Mushrooms, herbs, cream, and some flour.

Initial process- Get all the ingredients in order, it takes a brief 20 minutes to prepare it if the ingredients are kept in the open.

Ingredients-

  • You need 2 tablespoons of butter 
  • 1 and a half-pound of mushrooms (Sliced, minced according to your taste)
  • 1/4 Cup of chopped onion 
  • Some Minced Garlic 
  • Six tablespoons of all-purpose flour 
  • A few teaspoons of salt and pepper 
  • 1 cup of fresh cream

Optional Ingredients-

2 cans of chicken broth

How to Make Cream Mushroom Soup?

  • Step 1- Take a saucepan and put 2 tablespoons of butter in it, heat it on medium flame and then gradually add mushrooms and onions, saute them till they’re tender.
  • Step 2- Now in the same saucepan, add Salt, Pepper (broth if you have picked it) Boil the mixture.
  • Step 3- Keep stirring when it comes to a boil, the mixture should be thickened in a while. Then simmer the heat and add in some cream. It will take at least 20 minutes for all the flavors to blend properly with each other, keep stirring and keep playing with the heat. The aroma will tell you when it’s ready,

3. Red Wine Chicken Steak-

This is the ultimate recipe to create finger-licking chicken with very little effort. It’s comforting and can be prepared with everything else up in our list as the main course.

Ingredients-

  • A tablespoon of olive oil or butter 
  • Some Minced Garlic 
  • 2 Pounds of Boneless Chicken ( Preferably breast)
  • Paprika, Salt, and Pepper to taste
  • Half a cup of Brown Sugar 
  • Half a cup of Red Wine 

How to Make Red Wine Chicken Steak?

  • Step 1-  Take a large saucepan and put butter/olive oil in it. Add some garlic and stir it until it’s tender then add the chicken and cook for 15 minutes till it’s medium brown.
  • Step 2- Once that’s done you have to drain the oil or move the chicken to another saucepan. In it add brown sugar, paprika, red wine and cover the chicken. Cook it for 20 minutes on low heat. Then add salt and pepper to taste.
