Cool Ways To Make Your Motorcycle Helmets More Attractive

Sharing is caring!

Motorcycle Helmets

While we understand that there are reasons why one might not want to put on a helmet, it can be uncomfortable to wear, ruin your hair, and even look lame. On the other hand, though, not wearing it is definitely not an option. Most countries don’t allow people to ride motorcycles without a helmet. Not to mention that you will be risking your life if you don’t.

Since we’re not helmet manufacturers, there’s simply no way for us to adjust the fit and comfort of your motorcycle helmet. We’re not sure if you can entrust us with dealing with your helmet hair. But what we can do is make sure that your helmet won’t look lame.

You can always buy a spiderman motorcycle helmet or another piece that is similarly well-designed already. However, those who want to try making their helmets cooler on their own can read on for some awesome ideas.

How to Make Your Motorcycle Helmet Cooler

1. You can paint it.

The most basic thing that you can do to significantly change the appearance of your helmet is to paint it in the color you prefer. There are a few things to keep in mind, though. First, you need to know the material that your helmet is made from. This will determine the types of paint you can use.

Second, there might be other steps involved in the process. For instance, you might be required to sand the surface of your helmet before painting over it. Some paint will also need other layers for better results. These usually include a primer before painting and sealant after.

2. You can stencil a design.

Once you have a nice layer of fresh paint over your helmet, you can also proceed to stencil a design on it in another color. Should you choose to do so, though, don’t spray your sealant first. There are ready-made stencils that you can get both online and offline. We have found that there are usually more designs readily available in online shops. Aside from this, you may also choose to make your own designs. There are plenty of references online that can teach you how to do so.

3. You can add stickers or decals.

Those who are not confident in their DIY skills and creativity can opt to use stickers or decals instead. There are limitless designs out there. There are even sticker creators who agree to create stickers out of graphics you’ve found on the web.

We highly recommend using reflective stickers as this can help increase your safety, especially when you drive a lot at night.

Those out there can create a cool, put-together look with just stickers and without painting over their helmets. However, if you’re not confident that you’ll be able to pull this off, then you can consider putting a skin over your helmet instead.

4. You can put on a skin.

Skin and a decal are similar in that they both have a sticky side that you can use to adhere to your helmet, but that is where their similarities end. Think of decals as stickers that can only cover a small area. They are also limited to a single image or design as well.

Meanwhile, skins can cover your entire helmet, sometimes even more efficiently than getting a paint job. It is designed to give your helmet an entirely new look, after all. That said, you will need to find a skin that was specifically made for the type of helmet you own. This will ensure a seamless result.

5. You can have a graphic job made.

Finally, you can just take your helmet to a graphic design shop and have it professionally designed. This will also prove helpful if you can’t find a skin that fits your helmet, or if you’re not confident in applying it yourself.

There are different shops out there, each with itFs own catalog and aesthetics. While any shop can do, say, a crossbones design, of course, the results will still vary depending on which shop did the graphic job on your helmet. One that specializes in such themes can produce better results than one that specializes in more preppy designs.

Having a Cool Helmet

Indeed, there are different ways to change the look of your helmet. You might have noticed that all of the ideas we have shared with you will not change their structure. That’s the only customization method that we don’t always advise. Doing so can interfere with the helmet’s structural integrity and even put your safety at risk. Thus, we highly recommend customizing its surface instead.

In the end, you should keep in mind that a helmet’s primary purpose is not to make you look cool but to keep you alive in case of an unfortunate accident. If you can feel confident while you’re wearing it, then all the better since it will mean that you might use it more. Otherwise, customization is simply an add-on to enhance your riding experience.
