Sharing is caring!

If you’re the kind of mom that loves to keep herself busy with some kind of crafting task, then you need to make sure you have everything you need in order to really come up with the best quality when carrying out your DIY projects. This is why it is imperative that you keep a storage area, or even a room if you can manage, to keep all the necessary items required. To make life a little easier for you, we’ve made up a list of all the crafting tools that every mom out there would need with any of her DIY projects.

SEWING MACHINE

If you are a craftsy mom and love doing things by yourself, then you absolutely need to have a sewing machine. Whether it’s for making clothes from scratch, or fixing up damaged items of clothing, or even just for projects such as quilting and so on, it’s important that you have the right sewing machine. The best way to do that is to look up a couple of reviews. You need to choose recommended machines from a reliable source so that you can get one that will last for as long as possible, and also make the job easier for you. If you’re looking to do upholstery, then there are specific machines for those, so be sure about what kind of sewing you would like to get into before you pick the machine.

GLUE GUN

Glue guns are absolutely essential in regards to anything DIY, especially crafting! So if you’re the kind of mom who loves crafting and making all kinds of creations, especially when it comes to bedazzlings things, then there’s no way  you can do that without a glue gun. The great thing about having a glue gun is that it is very versatile and can be used for a number of tasks. If you’re into making jewelry, then you use it to stick the jewels. If something is broken, it is strong enough to hold things back together for a quick fix. If you want to help your kids with a project, there’s nothing quite like a glue gun to really set things in place.

SCISSOR SET

No crafting set is complete for any mom without a decent pair of shears. And the thing about scissors is that they come in all shapes and sizes, and each is made with specific tasks in mind. This is why you need a decent scissor set. There are scissors that are shaped in a way that makes them convenient for sewing and cutting through fine thread, there are scissors that are zigzagged for cutting fabric that tends to thread out easily, and there are heavy duty scissors for thicker surfaces such as cardboard.

PAINT BRUSHES

It’s always a good idea to have a variety of brushes stashed away, because you never know when you might need them! A crafting mom usually will want to add color to any of her projects, so it is highly likely that she will need a couple of quality paint brushes in her arsenal. It’s also a good idea to go from the really fine to the thickest option available, because DIY is not confined to only small things! Sometimes you might feel like you want to paint a wall, or cover up a scratch on a piece of wood.

METAL RULER

Regardless of whether you’re sewing, painting, cutting, or building, all kinds of crafts need measurement. And the metal ruler is probably the best because it makes it easy to cut along if need be, and it is thin and accurate as well.

CUTTING MAT

There’s nothing worse than leaving cut marks on surfaces because you don’t have a proper cutting mat! Make sure that you get a decent mat that is big enough to take on your bigger projects, and versatile enough to last long with you. There is even a self-healing mat which is great and will last ages with you, no matter how much you cut it.

X-ACTO KNIFE

No craft collection is complete without a crafting knife or two! Make sure that you get both the thin and bigger options, because both have their purpose and come in handy with different projects where scissors just don’t make the cut!

When you make sure that you have all the items mentioned here in your crafting box, then you’ll see how much more fun and convenient crafting activities will become! Whether it’s something you’ve chosen to take on by yourself, or if you’re helping the kids out with a project.
