DIY Fun Mason Jars

Mason Jars can be used for so many things other then canning. You can use them to store bathroom supplies, make your own cake mixes, maybe some bath scrubs? They are also great for organizing. But, plain Mason jars are a bit boring for some things. I decided I wanted to spice my Mason Jars up a bit to store some of my goodies!

I am big into crafts and something I have a lot of is knitting and crocheting needles. Mason Jars are perfect for storing them and keeping them organized. There are so many ways to decorate your jars, that you can’t go wrong!!

Supplies Needed

1. Mason Jars
2. Paint (Waverly Inspirations Chalk Paint)
3. Painters Tape
4. Mod Podge
5. Glitter
6. Paint Brush or Sponge Brush
7. Plate of Bowl for Glitter

Step 01: The first step is to paint your jars the color of your choice. I chose white as I find it simple and it can go with anything. Depending on how you are painting them and what kind, I suggest two coats of paint. I also chose to paint the lid for more fun!!

Step 02: This step you can skip if you chose. I thought Painting the lid and adding glitter would be a fun touch! Make sure you have a plate or bowl for the glitter. Once the lid had dried, I painted a coat of Mod Podge over it and sprinkled the glitter all around. I made sure to do this over the plate to avoid a big mess and I can save the glitter that fell off.

Step 03: Once your jar has completely dried, add your painters tape how you’d like. Be sure to have fun and try different things! Once you have your tape how you’d like, put a nice layer of Mod Podge in the sections you’d like to have glitter.

Step 04: Once you have a nice layer of Mod Podge, being to sprinkle your glitter all over the area. Do this over the plate or bowl so that any extra glitter can be poured back into your container. I suggested banging the bottom of your jar onto your other hand over the plate. This will allow for any glitter that hasn’t stuck, to fall off.

Step 05: Once your Mod Podge dries, peel the tape off and add your lid. And now you have beautiful Mason Jar all your own. I chose to add my Bamboo kitting needles to this beautiful Jar.

You can paint your jars any color you chose and use matching glitter. I thought white would be perfect since it’s so simple and I can use different color Glitters. This is such a simple and fun craft that can had beautiful touches around your home. You can even use them for a centerpiece with some beautiful flowers! There are so many options here! Just remember to have fun!!!

Get the kids in on it too! Let them make their own jar for their pencils and what not! Just have fun!!!
