If you’re like most moms, you’re concerned about your kids being prepared for life after school. Unfortunately though, most parents see some major gaps in their children’s education — but they’re taking the matter into their own hands using books like the Tuttle Twins series.
Why Parents Are Concerned About Their Kids’ Education
Tuttle Twins surveyed more than 1,000 parents and found that most of them are not very confident that their kids’ school is preparing them for the real world. The survey found that 31% of parents are not very confident of this, while 53% are somewhat confident. Only 10% are very confident that their children’s schools are preparing them for the real world.
The number one concern parents have about their kids’ real-world preparedness is a lack of real-world financial skills, at 36%, followed by the inability to think critically, exposure to ideological bias, and poor job readiness. Only 7% of parents think their children’s school is teaching critical thinking extremely well, with the other more than 90% ranging from “not at all” to “moderately well.”
Unsurprisingly, two of the top three subjects parents want to see more of in their child’s education are financial literacy and critical thinking and logic.

What to Do About These Education Gaps
So as you can see, if you feel the same way most parents do, you’re certainly not alone! The problem now is what to do about it, and the Tuttle Twins has answers for that too. Most parents aren’t counting on their kids’ schools to teach real-world principles.
They’re having discussions about important topics at home, including money and budgeting, current events and news, online misinformation, technology and artificial intelligence, and the role of government.
In addition to discussions, the Tuttle Twins survey found that 67% of parents are using curriculum programs or books that teach critical thinking and books to teach kids real-world principles. Fifty-seven percent are using educational YouTube channels or podcasts, while 55% are using online learning platforms.
