Growing up is one of the biggest mysteries for everyone. From the look, personality, and many other things are changing over time.

For guys, growing up can change them completely. It’s not uncommon for guys to be unrecognizable after reaching puberty. Because not only their faces look different, but they will also get taller and hairier.

If you’re a parent, or just simply want to know more about guys growing up, I have a list of fun facts that you should know.

Interests and personality may change greatly

Quite or loud guys could be the complete opposite of themselves once they are in their 20s. Quite guys become more outgoing and getting better at socializing with other people, or loud guys become quieter because they are now more comfortable keeping their thoughts to themselves.

Same with interests, guys who love sports, for example, may stop playing or even following sports completely. Guys who used to love slacking around may develop an interest in working hard or passion in certain activities. So, don’t expect guys to stay the same once they grow up. Other people may have to start getting to know them again as if they are strangers.

Some guys are still growing until their early 20s

If you see a guy age 17-19, who is short or small, don’t think that he will stay like that forever. Some guys are still growing even until they hit 20-22 because they hit puberty late. It is not uncommon for a guy to keep getting taller and taller in their 20s. So, a short guy could be taller than his friends in 2-3 years.

It’s not just height, other parts of their bodies are still changing as well, including the brain and muscle mass. The brain is said to keep developing until the age of 25 and typically, men keep developing muscle mass until they hit 30 years old.

More teenagers should know this fact because a lot of them don’t know about puberty yet. They often compare themselves to their friends who hit puberty earlier. Being shorter and weaker than other kids could make some teenagers very insecure about themselves.

When do guys stop growing?

There is a myth about when guys stop growing, many wonder if guys grow until 25 or later? First, I want to say that guys grow fastest during puberty, which may start at the age of nine. The majority of guys won’t hit puberty until they are 12-15.

Puberty can last as long as five years for most guys, but during this period, guys don’t always grow taller. So, guys who spend five years in puberty won’t always be taller than guys who spend less than five years in puberty.

As already mentioned above, some guys will keep growing even until in their early 20s. So it is safe to say that some guys stop growing once they hit 20-23, but most guys reach their peak by age 16. Another thing you should know is that, even though guys stop growing after puberty, their muscle mass will continue to develop, and their voices will deepen.

Guys think about girls a lot

Part of growing up is noticing the opposite sex a lot more. And guys are more outspoken about it, sometimes they will talk to their friends about it too. The signs are pretty obvious as well, like when guys are talking to girls and they get sweaty and stutter a lot.

Every teenager will go through this phase when they can’t stop thinking about talking or dating girls. Well, not everyone is the same, so some guys don’t even think about this kind of stuff at all, and that’s normal. Some guys may also develop preferences, about things that they find attractive.

Guys grow up differently and it is part of the process

Puberty can be scary but also exciting to learn. Everyone is different in their own way, and their bodies know that. Some guys will look more mature than other guys around his age, while others will look much younger because they haven’t hit puberty yet.

Some guys changed drastically after puberty is over, they may grow a beard, much taller, and have a lot more muscle mass. A small number of guys are also still growing even in their early 20s. Well, there’s so much to learn but one thing for sure is that everyone is growing at their own pace.
