Glow Up Your Skincare Routine

Sharing is caring!

From Hollywood A-listers to overworked moms, everyone craves that just-spent-two-weeks-relaxing-on-a-beach glow. But while celebrities have a glam squad of aestheticians and dermatologists, the rest of us mere mortals are left to our own devices.

Your skinand your skincare needschange with the season. Biting winter winds and sub-zero temperatures can leave skin chaffed and chapped. Bright sun or reflective snow may cause sun damage. If you live in a drier climate, your skin can become parched and dehydrated. And anyone who has cleaned their face after a day in the city knows all too well how much dirt and grime you wipe away.

Achieving fresh-looking skin might feel like a juggling act, but it’s not as complicated as you may think. A consistent natural skincare malaysia routine using the right products can transform your skin’s appearance to give you that beautiful, natural glow you’ve always wanted.

Follow this simple, five-step routine to say hello to gorgeous skin.

Step 1: Double Cleanse

How do you cleanse your face at the end of the day? Face wipes are better than no wipes, but while they clean, they don’t clean clean. They merely break down makeup and oils.

A single-cleanse routine works the same way. Oil cleansers break down the dirt on your face, and foam cleansers bounce off the natural oils in your skin and cosmeticsyour face is never entirely clean with either option. Achieve the best of both worlds by double cleansing: using an oil-based cleanser to break up the dirt, followed by a foam cleanser to wash it all away.

Bonus step: Exfoliate

Exfoliating helps remove pore-clogging dirt and oil from your skin in a way cleansing simply can’t. No need to exfoliate every daysee results by applying an exfoliator once or twice a week after cleansing. Failure to do this may cause excessive oil and dirt to clog the follicles, preventing the sebum. This can result in a skin condition known as acne. However, dealing with acne breakouts may scar the skin and cause emotional problems. Because of this, it’s best to follow an acne prone skin care routine, which includes exfoliation, to get your acne problems under control.

Step 2: Tone

Toner removes any last vestige of dirt, plus it helps to make your skin appear tighter, reduce your pores’ appearance, and balance pH levels. It also moisturizes your skin and preps it to absorb the other products in your skincare routine. Soak a cotton pad with toner and wipe it over your face or use your fingertips to pat it inboth are equally effective. If you’ve invested in an expensive toner, applying with your fingers is a simple way to make it last longer.

And remember to check the ingredients and use alcohol-free products. Toners containing alcoholoften referred to as astringentswill dry out your skin.

Step 3: Brightening Serum

Serums come in formulas for all types of skin concerns: the appearance of wrinkles, aging, andof coursea dull-looking complexion. For best results, apply your light complexion serum both morning and night. If you plan to use your serum only once a day, go with nighttime; your skin utilizes sleep to restore, regenerate, and repair.

Apply serum by softly pressing it into your skin with your fingertips and massaging it evenly across your face and neck in gentle, upward and outward motions. Pro tip: for an extra boost (and for that luxe, spa-like feel), use a jade roller to massage the serum into your skin and improve circulation.

Step 4: Moisturize

Your moisturizer locks in all the good work of steps 2 and 3. If you’re on a budget, you can use the same cream both morning and night, but there’s a reason why you see day creams and night creamsthey’re formulated differently. A day cream is lighter, non-greasy, and designed to absorb quickly. A night cream is much thicker and takes longer to absorb, preventing moisture from escaping while you sleep.

If you go with the same cream for day and night, use plenty of cream in the eveningdon’t be afraid to slather it on.

Bonus step: Sunscreen

It’s not just for sunny days. Wear your sunscreen every day, no matter the season or weather. UV rays can penetrate cloud cover to damage your skin, especially in snow and on water. Aim for at least SPF 30, and look for a sunscreen labeled broad spectrum to protect you from both UVA and UVB rays.

The benefits of quality skincare extend far beyond a luminous complexion. Setting aside time for yourself each day, being kind to your skin, and looking at yourself in the mirror while doing something positive have untold effects on your mental health. Practicing self-care through skincare can be quite addictive, so if you’re looking to add more products to your daily routine, you might want to consider:

  • Sheet masks
  • Wash-off or peel-off face masks
  • Retinol treatments
  • Eye cream or patches
  • Facial oil

And, of course, no skin regimen is complete without the holy grail of skincare: H2O. Drink enough water each day to stay hydratedit’ll help keep your skin glowing.
