On the Go with Baby: The Latest and Greatest Travel Gear for Parents

The arrival of baby does not necessarily mean the end of your travelling days. With the right equipment on board, you can easily and safely bring baby along on your holiday trips and weekend wanderings. Investing in a few of these simple innovations will make travel easier for you while keeping baby safer and more comfortable.

Travelling with an infant

Perhaps the most important piece of baby safety equipment when travelling with an infant is the vehicle itself. You need something that handles well and can accommodate all of your cargo but overall it has to be safe. Whether you are heading to grandma’s house for the holidays or towing a camper on a vacation trip, something along the lines of the Dodge Durango might be worth a look. Obviously you need to ensure you have a reliable car seat installed properly for baby’s age and weight. Next, you should stow a lightweight, foldable stroller, or a baby carrier that you can strap onto yourself. You will need to get out of the car to stretch your legs at some point, and baby will appreciate the break too.

When you get to your destination you will need to have a stow-and-go playpen for baby to stretch out in. This will provide a safe, contained space for tummy and play time as well as naps and overnight sleep. Pack a play gym mobile to entertain your baby after a long day on the road.

Toddler travel

Travelling with a little tyke is all about keeping your toddler comfortable, and occupied. Make sure you invest in a cover for your car seat so you don’t have to worry about diaper blowouts or toilet training mishaps ruining your ride. Your little one is likely fascinated with your iPod or iPad

  1. Great post and so true, but I still think twice before I travel more than 15 minutes in the car with my kids! I think people looking for great gifts for 1 year olds should consider how they can make travel easier. I for once do appreciate so much to get stuff that makes it easier to spend time with my tots in the car, on the bus and on the train. Like the un-rippable books that you mention!
