How Do Robotic Vacuum Cleaners Work?

The Robotic Vacuum cleaner is one of those game-changing inventions that completely changed the way we clean our floor. Since the release of the device, the robot vacuum reviews have been outstanding.

Today we will discuss how robotic vacuum cleaners work. I will keep things as simple as possible so everyone can understand the basics. Before we jump into How the robotic Vacuum Cleaners work, let’s learn what a Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is.

What is a Robotic Vacuum Cleaner?

A Robotic vacuum cleaner, also known as ‘robovac’, is a self-ruling mechanical vacuum cleaner which has keen programming and a constrained vacuum cleaning framework. Originally it included manual task through remote control and a “self-drive” mode which enabled the device to clean without any human control.

A few models had turning brushes to clean the tight corners of the rooms. Some of the other models include other features such as wiping, U.V sanitization etc. alongside the vacuuming.

How do Robotic Vacuum Cleaners Work?

When it comes to how a robotic vacuum cleaner works, there are a lot of things to explain from a technical point of view. I will try to keep this as simple as possible so everyone can understand.

There are 4 basic stages of cleaning which the robotic vacuum cleaner follows:

  1. The stage one is where the dual sweeping side brushes work. Both the brushes work together and catch any kind of hair, dirt, dust from the corners of the room.
  2. The stage two is where the main roller brush works. It helps in catching any of your pet hair and debris on the floor, and it removes the stains, dust, and dirt from the floor of your room with the rubber roller from your floors.
  3. The stage three is where the powerful motor comes to work. This powerful motor sucks the dust and dirt into the filtered dustbin via the air inlet. And there is a HEPA filter present which removes the tiny dust particles and allergens from the air.
  4. The stage four is for the devices which do the mopping as well. The robotic vacuum cleaner has a water tank which dispenses liquid to the microfiber cloth. Then the cleaner uses the damp cloth and mops your floor removing any sort of smudges, dirt, and grime..

So, that is how a robotic vacuum cleaner works. There are a lot of complex technologies inside, but we will not get too much deep into it.

Why use the robotic vacuum cleaner over a regular vacuum cleaner?

Here are some of the features which make it more preferable over a normal vacuum cleaner:

  1. Control it on your smartphone: Just like any other smart appliance these days, the robotic vacuum cleaner connects to your home Wi-fi and lets you control the device using your smartphone. This way you can set the device to clean your house even when you are outside.
  2. No more trouble with chords: Forget the hassle of the chords when using a regular vacuum cleaner. The robotic vacuum cleaner comes with its own charging station and when it is low on charge, it will automatically go to the charger and charge itself. You won’t see any chord laying on your floor while it’s working.
  3. It avoids obstacles: It avoids obstacles such as the walls of your room and stairs. If it goes and hits a wall, the sensor will detect it and send it back in another way. It also avoids other objects laying on the floor. You can also set up some virtual walls which the device will detect and will not cross.

Conclusion:

So that is how a robotic vacuum cleaner works. I hope you enjoyed reading the article and gained good knowledge about the working of this device. Good luck!
