According to one poll, about 76% of Americans said that they would describe themselves as adventurous.

If you’re not part of that percentage, don’t worry! There’s still time to change that.

There are so many things that you can do for your next adventure, and it can be overwhelming to pick one.

Are you trying to figure out how to be more adventurous? If yes, you should check out our list of things to do by clicking right here.

1. River Rafting at Grand Canyon

Many people have visited the Grand Canyon, but only a few people have ever rafted through it.

Most people don’t get to see this massive landmark from an angle of down below. If you’re looking at it from the top, you’ll likely see the Colorado River running through the canyon. You might think how could a river so small carve something this big?

Well, over the course of two billion years, this river created one of the natural wonders in America. That’s why seeing it from in the water is the best way to appreciate it.

You can launch off into the Canyon at Lees Ferry. This is at the northeast corner of the Grand Canyon National Park. The rafting ends at Lake Mead, which is about 443 kilometers away.

However, on the way, you’ll be able to see swimming holes, beaches, and Puebloan sites. The wild water that throws you about should be enough to keep you entertained, however.

The best time to go rafting is between May and October, so you should make sure that you book your trip sometime then. On a scale of difficulty, this is probably an intermediate rafting experience.

2. Sleep at the Foot of Mount Everest

Climbing Mount Everest can be a really daunting task, but sleeping at the base of it offers just enough adventure for a new beginning.

The hospitality you’ll experience here and the views are beautiful, but most people aren’t allowed to stay overnight at the Everest Base Camp. You’ll need special permission to do so. Most people just visit here for a photo op, and then they go to the Gorak Shep to camp.

However, some places will offer you the chance to stay overnight at this camp. You’ll need to join a special trip or tour during peak summit-attempt season. This is normally during April and May, so you should make sure to plan your trip accordingly.

However, this is an opportunity that you may not get anywhere else. You can sleep in the shadow of the tallest mountain in the world. You may even get a chance to speak to people who are on the journey to climb the mountain.

Make sure that you are healthy, because you may not be able to stay there if you aren’t because you could affect the travelers who are going to climb the mountain.

3. Ride a Hot Air Balloon Over Cappadocia

If you wanted a little bit of a different view, you can ride in a hot air balloon over Cappadocia.

This is a rocky area that will loo similar to the moon’s landscape. If visiting it isn’t adventurous enough for you, try taking a hot air balloon up there.

Throughout most of the year, conditions are perfect to see the pidgin houses and marvel and the rock formations made from volcanos.

4. Climb Kilimanjaro

Climbing Kilimanjaro is a truly unique experience, and it might be one of the greatest climbing adventures that you can take.

The mountain, located in Tanzania, is aesthetically pleasing to look at and also challenging to climb. It has an odd climate, and sometimes you’ll even see snow there even though the mountain is located at the equator.

Many experts speculate that the snow will be gone in a few decades due to global warming, so make sure that you book this excursion now before it’s too late.

However, before you go, you can’t climb this mountain on your own. You will need to make sure that you have a long trip to be sure that you can complete all of it.

It will also be helpful to go in a group or with a guided tour.

5. Explore Angkor Wat

Angkor is a city of temples that sits outside Siem Reap in Cambodia.

These ancient temples take up 400 square kilometers, making it one of the biggest temple complexes to be found in Asia. Angkor Wat is the biggest temple there.

This building looks best during sunrise, so make sure that you plan your trip accordingly.

6. Visit the Northern Lights in Iceland

If you are looking for an adventurous trip that is out of this world, Iceland is definitely the place for you.

This continent looks like something that belongs on a different planet, and there are all kinds of hikes, hot springs, and snorkeling to be had.

One other thing you can do here is to search for the Northern Lights (if you time your trip) right. Make sure to check out this guide for first timer’s at the Northern Lights.

These natural lights light up the sky as bright colors in the sky and particles of gas collide to create green colors. Iceland is one of the best places to view them.
