Choosing the right wig is important. It should be your size, with a color that looks natural and a length suitable for your use. Whether you are losing your hair due to cancer, disease, alopecia, or just want to change your style, this short guide will help you choose the one that will suit you the most.

When to choose your wig?

If you have to undergo chemotherapy and the doctors have told you that you are going to lose your hair, it is recommended that you choose your wig before hair loss. You will be able to more easily find a shade similar to your hair. You may not be too tired from the treatments yet. The fitting session will be less painful. If you can, bring someone with you to get an outside opinion.

Choose a wig for your size

To measure your head circumference, run a tape across your forehead, slightly above your ears and at the back of your neck, below the occipital bone.

Most models have a standard size which corresponds to a head circumference of 55 to 57 centimeters. This size is suitable for 95% of people.

The wigs are adjustable using elastic bands inside the cap. In most cases, these strips will effectively hold your wig in place.

However, there are wigs in small sizes 51 to 55 centimeters and others in large sizes over 57 centimeters.

Which color of wig to go for?

It is recommended as a first purchase to choose a model close to your hair color. Adapting to the wig will be easier for you and those around you. However, nothing prevents you from taking the opportunity to change colors. In this case, it is best to choose a color that highlights your skin tone and the color of your eyes. It is possible to create depth in the eyes or illuminate a face. The color of your wig should balance your skin tone and highlight your eyes by creating some contrast. Conversely, a color that is too dark can make fair skin dull. And a hair color that is too light will not enhance a dark complexion.

Here are some examples of wig colors to match skin tone and eye color:

Very fair skin, light eyes: Choose a color from blond to coppery chestnut. Avoid dark colors which will make you look pale. If your eyes are dark, darker colors, which will create a slight contrast with your eyes, are possible. Be careful, however, not to exaggerate the contrast. Blond can dull the complexion.

Fair skin with light eyes: Go for colors ranging from blond to dark brown. If your eyes are dark, you can go all the way to brown or black real hair wigs.

Dark to dark skin and dark eyes: Choose a dark color that brightens the complexion. Avoid the blonde which can create an artificial effect and not contrast with your skin or take a wig with a root effect. It will be more realistic.

A cut in harmony with the shape of your face

A haircut should in theory make the face more harmonious. To get an idea of ??your face shape, observe your face lines in a mirror at the forehead, cheekbones and jawline.

So for a round face, a cut that lengthens the face is to be sought. For more square facies, a cut that rounds the angles like a unstructured cut will be ideal. With longer lines, look for a cut that brings volume and widens the shape of the face. You have a triangle face with a narrow forehead and a wide chin or conversely a wide forehead and a narrow jaw. In this case, aim for a cut that thins the widest part and widens the narrowest part of the head. Finally, special mention if your face is oval, you will have no problem choosing a wig adapted to the shape of it. Indeed, all cuts will suit you, including these HD lace wigs!

These tips are of course theoretical. Nothing replaces an in-store test in case of doubt. But we hope the tips were useful. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
