Everybody loves a clean house. However, doing the actual cleaning is not that popular. It is often tedious and feels like a never-ending chore. No matter how hard you try, it still seems to take forever to tidy up the place. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of some of the most helpful tips to help you wrap everything up faster and move on to the activities you actually enjoy doing.
Clear the clutter
Before you even start with the cleaning, take a garbage bag; fill it with old magazines, snack wrappings, plastic cups, paper bags and similar things that are lying around but belong in the bin. Pick up your half-read paperbacks and comic books and put them back on their shelves. Do this one room at the time until you have decluttered them all. In the end, take the clothes that are just lying around and put them in the laundry basket or straight into the washing machine. This will save you the trouble of having to stop every two minutes while stepping over the clutter once you start vacuuming.
Windows and mirrors not on a sunny day
When it comes to washing windows and mirrors, the squeegee is unbeatable. Get a large one with a sponge on one side and any glass surface fill be done in no time. This is especially suitable for wall mirrors and mirror closet doors since there are no frames and nothing to prevent the squeegee from covering every inch of the surface. If you really want to maximize the shine and transparency you can spray the glass with an ordinary cleaner fluid and wipe it down with some newspaper. However, remember to avoid sunny days for window and mirror cleaning because sunshine and higher temperatures will dry the washing fluid and create streaks before you get a chance to wipe it off.
Vacuum before dusting
Vacuum cleaners get rid of all the dust from the floor, but their fan also stirs some dust that settles on your furniture and appliances. This is most noticeable on the black television screens. If you wipe it clean and then do the vacuuming you will notice that it is again covered in dust. You will save a lot of time if you hoover first, wait for a couple of minutes and then do the dusting. It would be best if you hoover the entire house or the apartment and then start the dusting while using an anti-static cleaning spray for furniture and just a microfiber cloth for TV and computer screens.
Be generally tidy pic up after yourself
Finally, if you keep your house tidy by picking up after yourself you will have less to do when it comes to cleaning. You will have no clutter to clear and that alone can save you a considerable amount of time and effort. It just stands to reason that less messy places are easier to clean. Our first impulse may not be to wash the dishes after each meal or to put something back in its place when we are finished with it. However, these small efforts will pay off when the cleaning day comes and you realize there isn’t so much to do.
