Alternatively, try turning on both the sound channel and volume control at the same time. If you can hear both channels, then the aid is working.

Fixing your hearing aid – If the sound reception of your hearing aid has been disrupted, then you’ll need to locate the broken component and carry out repairs. In most cases, you’ll be fixing the antenna that transmits sound from the hearing aids to your ear. In some models, this is a small wire coil within a channel on the aid side. It should be wrapped around by itself and shouldn’t be moving or loose when you look at it. If the coil is broken, then it’s almost certainly your amplifier.
Partial Repairs
Sometimes, your hearing aid may not be broken all the way through. You may only need to fix a small section of it, or you may have been able to fix the whole thing for nothing. Check if you’re covered by your insurance. If you have a hearing aid that is faulty or damaged, then chances are you will be covered by your insurance. Your insurance company will require a diagnosis from a qualified audiologist or hearing care professional before they’ll cover the cost of any repairs.
Broken Analogue or Pulse Detection Aid
The new digital technology on the market means that all new hearing aids should receive sound in the digital format without having to convert it down to analog. As a result, analog and pulse detection hearing aids are now considered obsolete. However, if you have an analog or pulse detection aid and it breaks, then you can still fix it yourself for free. If you’re not sure what type of hearing aid you have, check your manual or go to the manufacturer’s website.
