There are a lot of things to love about Texas. First of all the people are hilarious they’re all about how they’re perceived and it really is true about the big hair and the giant belt buckles. The women talk with this incredible drawl…it takes them hours to say what they’re thinking…and the men are all cowboy-hat toting Republicans like you’d think they’d be. But the thing about it is they’re all the nicest people in the world and they’d literally give you the shirts off their back. For example, when I first moved in my neighbor showed up with a plate of cookies (A PLATE OF COOKIES!) and told me all about the neighborhood and about Electric Companies Texas had to offer and where to go to get a good teeth cleaning. I mean, when I lived in New Jersey you better believe no one came over to give me cookies! They also make barbecue down here like I’ve never had in my life they do things with beef I’m not sure should be legal in 26 states. Anyway, I really like Texas a lot even though I didn’t come here by my own volition. I got a great job offer that was too good to pass up so you know, I did what I had to do in this economy and packed up the car and moved my whole life down here to the Lone Star state. I wouldn’t have thought I’d like it in the south since I was born and bred Jersey but you know, the similarities between the people who live in these states are actually great. They’re all about family down here and they’re very welcoming and open. They also love nothing more than sitting around and chatting over a huge table full of food! I will say one thing for Texas: I’ve gained over 20 pounds just by eating all the amazing food they love to eat down here.
I’m a 20-something stay-at-home mother and wife. I have an amazing husband, a beautiful daughter, two loving dogs, and a lazy cat. I wouldn’t change my life for anything! I love to read, listen to music, cook and blog!
