Non-Surgical Treatments For Aging Facial Skin

Our skin’s appearance changes as we age due to many factors. After our mid-20s, the production of skin collagen and elastin, which are needed to keep our skin soft, supple, and tight, start to slow down naturally. Adding to that sun exposure, diet, smoking, genetics, lifestyle, stress, and just generally getting older are contributing factors that start speeding up the process of skin aging.

Excessive exposure to the elements can damage skin cells, and when they are not replenished with the collagen, protein, and other chemicals they need the skin begins to sag and change. Thankfully, Skin Society Bar has many options to help slow down the effects of aging and improve the skin’s texture, tightness and provide an overall youthful look. If you don’t know where to start with your facial anti-aging journey, here is a list of non-surgical anti-aging facial procedures that are offered by most dermatologists to check out.

Fraxel Laser

This is a laser treatment that is light-based  that works on smoothing out wrinkles, fine lines, scar removals, Keratosis, and targets hyperpigmentation. The laser beam creates micro-injuries on the skin that initiates a healing procedure that produces more collagen that results in smoother and toned skin.

Botox/Dermal Fillers

Injectables that restore  volume to the areas that have lost it, such as the lips and cheeks. However, Botox and fillers are completely different. Botox is purified bacteria that freeze the facial muscles and prevents them from deteriorating further which minimizes the appearance of lines and wrinkles. While Dermal fillers are made up of Hyaluronic Acid and other natural ingredients that add fullness to areas that have drooped and creates youthful plumpness in areas such as the cheeks, lips, and mouth.

Chemical Peels

This is a treatment that takes care of the removal of dead skin through peeling and exfoliation. It is great at minimizing and removing sun-damaged skin, minimizing acne, promoting even pigmentation, wrinkles and fine lines. These chemical skin peels are getting very popular these days.

Red Light Therapy

This is a laser-like therapy that focuses on the production of collagen. This helps with aging lines, skin rejuvenation, plumpness and firming of the skin to reduce inflammation with red light therapy.

Ultherapy

A more well-known skin treatment for the tightening of the jowls, lower face, and neck that uses ultrasound energy to tighten the skin. The treatment involves lifting sagging skin by production of collagen and within a few weeks noticeably younger-looking skin and lifted areas are visible.

Microneedling

Appearing on the market in the past decade, this minimally-invasive procedure has shown its great effectiveness in reversing many signs of aging. It involves needles that are smaller in size to puncture the skin, creating small micro-holes, similar to Fraxel, which then activates the skin to produce collagen to heal itself. Microneedling is used alone or in conjunction with other treatments to treat fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles, pore size,   and rejuvenation in general.

Radiofrequency Treatments

This is yet another fix for droopy and saggy aging skin. Radiofrequency is combined with varying degrees of Microneedling with this revolutionary anti-aging treatment that targets sagging skin. There are several radiofrequency combinations and treatments, and each with varying degrees of effectiveness.

Profound Treatment

This treatment uses a device called Profound to tighten the skin. The device uses a combination of Microneedling and radiofrequency for advanced treatment of skin tightening. The needle penetrates the skin at an exact depth, then provides a shot of radiofrequency energy. The added step is that it creates move volume and promotes tissue elasticity, especially in the jowls and around the mouth and chin area. This treatment promotes the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen in the skin. Results have shown this procedure can produce one-third the effect of a surgical face-lift.

Thermage

One of the most popular treatments used by celebrities. It heats the skin using radiofrequency on the face and other areas of the body. The focus is on the epidermal layers of the skin without damaging the dermis layer of the skin to strengthen and promote collagen production. It focuses on the skin layer below the surface to tighten and promote smooth and rejuvenated skin.

Fractora

This treatment also combines  radiofrequency and Microneedling  to provide anti-aging results and also tighten the skin in one sitting. This treatment is popular because it has very downtime. The results can take years off your face as it stimulates the production of collagen and Hyaluronic acid in the skin.

You don’t need to undergo extensive procedures to achieve youthful and tight smooth skin. There are non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures on the market today that are quite effective, with relatively little downtime. You can have smooth and plump looking skin in a few weeks with any of the above treatments. Just do your research and decide on the problems you wish to target to choose the right procedure for you.
