Climate change has now more than ever become a concern for each planet member, thus making people search for solutions in order to save the planet. Each part of society has a role in saving the planet, so we should find better ways and methods when using materials that are can not be reused or recycled. Every individual and institution should be part of this climate crisis including sport and sports companies.
How Sports Industry is Helps in Climate Crisis?
In the last few years, we have seen sports have played a big role in contributing to climate change. Famous sports brands and organizations started implementing many eco-sustainability practices and innovations. These institutions need to take the lead in sustainability, as sports are aiming for better health, and if the sports industry does not open its eyes on time, they will lose their game on the market, and most importantly won’t be allowed to sell goods if they are harming the nature and peoples’ lives.
Some of the sports brands have started producing more natural, environmental-safety products for every person that is into sports to use it. From sportswear, footwear, to sports equipment companies have turned their businesses into selling these goods in Biodegradable Sporting Goods Store. The number of these stores has rapidly increased, as a result of the high demand for recyclable and vegan products.
Not only vegans started to implement veganism, but it also affected the sporting industry with a cause, and people started wearing renewable, biodegradable gear and shoes. Since this climate crisis has hit, natural fibers and man-made synthetic materials have become more present on the market with less harm than killing animals to use their leather and turn to safer methods of production.

Instead of using animal skin materials, polymers like PVC and PU, have found their place in the eco-making of these and many other sports goods. Baseball gloves, Shoes for Dancing, and other products of sports equipment were improved, without losing the same effect to touch and use during the sports games and events.
Another great material besides PU and PVC that is similar to make is another synthetic thermoplastic polyurethane, known as TPU. Maybe in the future, there will be more improved materials that sports manufacturers can incorporate into their products, but for now, TPU is quite a better option than using PU, PVC, or animal leather.
We should also mention that basketball and volleyball have seen no difference in using synthetic-based sports balls in the field, during the game. The texture is similar, you can not even recognize that it is made out of plastic, and most importantly provide some benefits, like long-duration and resistance to water, oil, cold, and scratches. Volleyballs on the other side, are lighter and softer to touch, which makes the use of eco-friendly materials even better, including plants as their elements.
Soccer equipment manufacturers as well as soccer players were not out of this climate change contribution and have helped either with producing these goods or buying them. From soccer balls to soccer shoes, including vegan leather and plants have raised the eco-sustainability.
Along with the equipment and sportswear, many sports have also given their support in the climate crisis by involving in green sports like running, swimming, windsurfing, and cycling that don’t require much equipment or use renewable energy like skiing.
