Kayak fishing is one of the best ways to explore nature while reeling in a catch. For some, it’s a relaxing, exciting adventure; for others, it’s a nerve-wracking challenge. Imagine reeling in a big catch alone without the heavy machinery? It is a big accomplishment for every kayak angler.
Choosing where you go kayak fishing is just as important as the type of fishing kayak you have. Below are five places in the United States that are worth exploring.

5 Best Destinations for Kayak Fishing in the US
1. Devil’s River, Texas
In Texas, the Devil’s River is one of the best places for anglers on vacation. The river is remote and wild, allowing for a few access points to choose from. You can stay there in simple accommodation options or bring your own equipment with you.
The pristine ecological waterways and abundance of smallmouth bass in Devils River make it a dream place for many. And, although fishing here can be strenuous at times–if you have the right kayak fishing skills-you will enjoy catching them when they’re biting!
The best times to visit are spring or fall because then both carp & catfish love these warm water river springs as well, but don’t worry about deciding what species tastes better: there’s plenty more opportunity next year too (or sooner!).
If you’re targeting largemouth bass in the early morning and evening, you should use top water lures if the fish are biters. Texas-rigged soft plastics, wacky rigged soft plastics, and jerk baits will get the job done.
2. Shenandoah River, Virginia
Kayaking on the Shenandoah River is one of my favorite things to do. The views are amazing, and you never know what sort of wildlife will be around! You can go for hours without seeing another soul because it’s such a peaceful place- perfect if you’re looking for some time away from crowds or city life.
There are many launch spots with varying hours so even if one spot has shorter restricted times than another nearby location, no need to worry yourself trying to figure out which ones they might be!
You can go fishing at the lake all year round. It’s a popular spot for smallmouth, crappie, catfish, largemouth bass, and muskie. Use moving baits like crawfish during fall and spring when bass fish are hunting, will catch you dinner all year round.
3. Kona Coast, Hawaii
If you are a fisherman looking for the big ones, then head to Kona Coast in Hawaii. With an area less than one mile from shore that has steep drop-offs and deep waters where giants can be pulled out – this is your spot!
It’s easy to find a spot in the water where you can launch your kayak from the harbor. If it is deep enough for fishing and not too rough or rocky then landing a fish should only take minutes with one-way navigation using either jigging or rigging up live bait onto something like hooks so they stay attached while swimming around waiting patiently on their next victim!
4. Wando River, South Carolina
North of Charleston, the Wando River is a great fishing spot for kayakers to hook up with speckled trout and redfish. The river isn’t very large, but there are plenty of creeks and ledges to provide great habitat for the fish. Plus, there are several spots to launch a kayak, including Paradise Island Public Boat landing, Dunes West Boat Ramp, Hidden Cove Landing, and Remley’s Point Public Boat Landing.
You can always find a few Redfish and Speckled Trout in these parts of the river, but you’ll need to be using lures or live bait. watch out for spots facing currents such as pilings, grassy points where they like hanging around most likely due to their safety from predators that are waiting just around the corner!
If it’s higher than 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 Celsius), try topwater plugs – those fancy-looking ones with bright colors often work best since fish see color easily compared to other types of presentations made by humans.
5. Lake Guntersville, Alabama
Kayak fishing is so much fun! I could spend all day on my kayak, just looking at the beautiful scenery. Lake Guntersville in Alabama has tons of great places to fish from and even more things going for it- like 900 miles worth of shoreline?
Lake Guntersville is a pristine spot for nature lovers, with an abundance of largemouth bass, sauger, crappie, and catfish. The water here offers scenic views and fishing opportunities; whether you want to go kayak fishing or just sit back on your kayak while looking at all these beautiful sights!
Conclusion
The US is one of the best places for kayak fishing. However, these 5 destinations are the best of the best. So make sure to check them out and report back to us.
