Top 5 Tips For Moms To Beat Summers

Sharing is caring!

Summers can be excruciating for us moms, to keep our morale up with the household chores. Indeed, handling kids is a frustrating affair as well. If you are a stay at home mom, the sudden change of the kids not going to school can drive you frantic. On the other hand, if you are a working woman, get ready to de-clutter your home round the clock! For most of us, the transition to summers can be overwhelming but here are some tips from personal experience that will spur you on during the heat, hopefully.lady in ocean during summer

  1. Stick To A Schedule Talk To Your Kids

Most of our problems arise because of a bad routine. Summers are long and lazy but not when you are the showrunner of the house. Instead of doing menial tasks, keep yourself busy with productive tasks. These could include gardening, camping out and best yet, infusing your kids with some entrepreneurial spirit.

Warren Buffet was six years old when he did his first piece of business (purchasing a pack of soda for 25 cents and selling each for a nickel, making a profit of five cents per can). The best thing you could do is make a calendar: for yourself and the kids. Set up tasks and stick to them.

  1. Give Yourself Some Time

I have seen a lot of women who invest so much time in house and children they neglect their own wellbeing. If your kids are five above, you can set a time every afternoon or evening where you do something you like. Consider reading a book, going out for a walk with a friend, doing yoga etc. It could be anything. Do whatever that kindles the fire in your soul. Watch the sun setting from a good view! Being a mom does not mean you cannot have leisure time.

  1. Delegate Tasks

Now this one is very important, I remember when I had my first baby, I wanted to take the burden of both bringing him up and running the house. However, it soon burned me out! Remember, you are not a superwoman; you cannot do everything on your own. During summers, it is best that you delegate tasks, ask your kids to assist you in preparing lunch, assign them to do the laundry on alternate days, ask them to organize their rooms and so on. Upon successful completion of tasks, reward them with what they love. We call it Reward-Motivated behavior.

  1. Stay Cool, Stay Hydrated

Now, this goes without saying but water is the fuel of your body, especially when you have the responsibility of the entire household in your shoulders. Drink lots of water, stay hydrated, avoid going out in the afternoon, unless you really need to. According to the Institute of Medicine, the adequate intake of water for women is 2.7 liters daily in summers. P.S: Your urine color is a good indicator of hydration. If it is pale yellowish, take it as a healthy sign but if it is dark colored (similar to apple juice) or you are urinating small volumes, you are probably dehydrated.Another thing to consider is your air conditioner during summers. The pandemic of global warming is rising with every year and we, unfortunately, need artificial air to cool our environment. Having said that, make sure you have an efficient air conditioner in your house. For mine, we have installed the multi-room air conditioning system from ActronAir and have had no problems with them thus far.

  1. Have Patience

Last but not least, you need to manifest the virtue of patience. There will be times when you will scratch your head with frustration. Trust me you can work it out! Make a plan with the kids and stick to it. Divide responsibilities and take things one at a time. Laugh more, take cold showers and talk to your kids. Communication is the key. Being a mother of 2 kids, I can safely say that the key to your happiness and that of your kids is in those light moments of laughter, ecstasy, and love!
