  1. Ayurveda

Ayurveda is one of the oldest medicines in the world. People have used it for over 3000 years to help those in need. It is an alternative practice that focuses on the overall health and uses herbs and plants to promote the self-healing of our body. In that way, it triggers the body’s power to heal itself without the need for drugs. This practice uses ashwagandha, turmeric, cumin, holy basil, Gotu Kola, and many other herbs and plants which positively affect our body and improve its functions.

  1. Meditation

Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice that helps the body find its balance. By putting it into balance, it supports its self-healing, just like the Ayurveda. However, this practice focuses more on the mental health and emotions, rather than the physical health and conditions affecting the body.

If meditation was seen as something specific for certain religions and cultures in the past, the last several years it has become mainstream. A lot of people around the world started practicing meditation to improve their mental health and feel emotionally better. And, in 2020, it is predicted that it will be one of the major trends. As a matter of fact, it is believed that Transcendental and Metta will be the most practiced types of meditation.

  1. Yoga on Point

Apart from meditation, yoga will also be in the focus. While it has been a wellness trend in the last several years, this year, it will become more diverse. This will help make yoga accessible to everyone.

Yoga teachers, Sophie Griffiths and Jesal Parikh, have started the new year with a list of 20 yoga teachers of colors everyone should follow this year. In that way, they want to inspire people to practice yoga and make it part of their life. Plus, they want to give people a bigger choice of yoga teachers so they can choose the one that suits them best.

  1. Red Light Therapy

Experts predict that sound and light therapy will be one of the biggest wellness trends in 2020. This is a result of the fact that certain sounds and lights positively affect our bodies. Red light therapy will probably be the biggest trend in this niche, due to its incredible benefits. As it’s known, it can boost your energy, improve your fitness, mood, sleep quality, and skin look, and reduce stress, inflammation, pain, and body fat. In other words, red light therapy can help improve your mental and physical health.

If this therapy was available only in medical settings, now it will become available out of it. It is expected that some well-known brands will offer products you can use in your home or office. For instance, there will be red light wall panes and portable hand-held devices.

  1. Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD)

You might or might have not heard of this compound, but it’s actually well-known in the science world. NAD is naturally produced by our body and plays a major role in our overall health. It is responsible for repairing cells, turning everything you consume into energy, and increasing your metabolism. However, as we grow older, NAD levels lower. For instance, at the age of 60, they are half of what they were at the age of 40. In other words, we need to increase NAD levels in order to improve the function of our body, especially our metabolism.

Being aware of the importance of NAD, companies started producing supplements to increase their levels in our bodies. These supplements affect our body by using a precursor that helps the body produce NAD on its own. In that way, they rejuvenate your body and prolong the aging process. So, make sure you think about using NAD supplements, especially if you are in your middle or golden age.

As you can see, the focus this year is on our mental health. From meditation and yoga to supplements and light therapy to alternative medicine, there will be a lot of changes in the wellness trends. Regardless of which one(s) you choose to follow, there’s no doubt you will greatly benefit from them.
