TYPES OF SKIN AND CARING TIPS FOR THEM

Depending on various factors like genes, geography, and environmental conditions, different people are born with different types of skins. Learning about your own skin type is important as it helps one to be aware of what their skin needs and then provide it with the same.

This is like understanding more about one’s health and metabolism. Not every person has the same body and it has basic differences like the rate at which their body generates energy from food, the time it takes for the body to digest food, and so on.

Learning about one’s own body and what it requires to be nourished allows one to be in sync with it and hence be more productive in their life.

Various types of skin may differ based on a lot of factors but sometimes, one can opt for professional advice from a skin specialist if they need to have a medical procedure like a skin pigmentation treatment done on their skin.

This not only helps one to get rid of all the doubts they may have regarding their skin type and the issues their skin may be facing, but it also allows one to get a perfectly suitable treatment for their skin to get rid of the long or short term issues with their skin.

TYPES OF SKIN AND HOW TO CARE FOR IT

Skin types often differ on the basis of the amount of oil secreted by the skin naturally. This is called sebum and is the natural oil that our skin secretes in specific amounts to keep the skin hydrated and healthy.

Sebum also protects one’s skin from damage and dryness due to exposure to the sun or harsh environmental conditions including pollution and chlorinated water found in swimming pools.

The different skin types are:

  1. OILY SKIN: as the name suggests, this skin type is known and found to have excess sebum secretion. Even though sebum is not at all a bad thing, too much of it can make the skin appear shiny and even get dirt and germs to be stuck on the skin, which may later react and cause infections or clogged pores, or even acne.

Oily skin type beauties need to know which products to use at home. They should wash their face with a neem face wash frequently, at least twice a day. Scrubbing the skin once or twice a week will also ensure that the dead skin is removed which may also contain dirt.

Some other products that are good for oily skinned people are blotting papers, primers before applying makeup, and a light moisturizer. Make sure that the primer does not contain many silicones as it can make the skin have clogged pores and cause acne in some cases.

  1. DRY SKIN: this skin type produces less than enough sebum and causes the skin to become dry and sometimes flaky or prone to other skin conditions when exposed to the sun or pollution.

People with dry skin must always use a less harsh chemical-free and soap free face wash on the skin so that the natural oils are not stripped off. They should scrub their skin once a week and not very often.

Using a moisturizer is extremely important for individuals with dry skin as it helps to maintain the natural moisture in the skin. Dry skinned people should also use serums or face oils often to help with the moisture in their skin.

  1. ACNE PRONE SKIN: many people suffer from acne issues in their life but some people with oily skin or even dry skin have a reactive tendency. Their skin quickly reacts to the germs or bacteria from the outside world and develops acne.

Acne may also leave marks after healing which may stay for a long time on the skin. One can get a skin pigmentation treatment for the skin if this is a long term issue for them.

Acne-prone skinned people must be very careful of the ingredient list on the products that they use on their face. Parabens and silicones can clog the pores even more and cause trouble for acne-prone skin that is already very reactive.

Tea tree oil is very useful to use on the skin for people that are prone to acne. It has high antibacterial properties and helps to treat and cure acne. Other things to use are aloe vera gel that helps to calm and soothe the nasty bumps and rose water that also acts as a toner for the skin.
