It’s funny how people love coming home to a clean house, but few of them like the actual cleaning. Still, house cleaning can be a tedious and time-consuming job, especially now that people are getting increasingly busy. The little time you have is only enough to do the laundry, grab some groceries and do something with the kids. That’s why most people prefer outsourcing their house cleaning to maid services.
That said, here are some of the things to expect from your cleaning service on a basic job.

Step 1: Decluttering the House
You’ll be surprised at how many things are misplaced in a typical home. Magazines, utensils, newspapers, and small furniture are some of the culprits, and they can make your rooms look dirtier than they really are.
Of course, there will be many things that need to go after the decluttering exercise besides the usual kitchen garbage. You might want to throw out things that you never use, like old toys or your previous computer that has been lying around forever. You can also consider renting a storage space to store some of the sentimental stuff.
Step 2: Dusting
After decluttering the entire house, the team will start dusting everything that’s not on the floor. They often use microfibre cloths to clean all vertical surfaces, including windows, cabinets, and walls. They will also dust the blinds, top of doors, and picture frames. And, they might have to use water or other cleaning agents for a perfect finish.
Generally speaking, this is one of the most time-consuming steps of the entire clean-up process, but the results are worth it.
Step 3: Vacuuming
Now that your floors are all dusty after step 3, the team will vacuum the entire house with their commercial-grade rigs. These things have more power than your regular vacuum cleaner, and that translates to exceptional results. Expect to find all the missing socks, your favorite pen, and other lost items.
After that, the team will mop or treat your floors to get rid of the remaining dirt. And the general rule is to clean a 4X4ft area, then rinse the mopper before going at it again.
By the end of this step, most of the house will be looking great and smelling better. Throw in a humidifier with your favorite essential oil, and you will have a guest-ready living area. However, the kitchen still needs special attention at this point.
Step 5: The Kitchen
Usually, a cleaning team will have someone (or a group) assigned to the kitchen. They will use microfibre cloths to wipe down countertops, cabinets, and the face of your appliances. Special emphasis goes to the right side of the stove, as it’s usually the dirtiest spot in the entire room. Your frequently used cabinets and drawers come in at a close second.
During this step, the cleaners may notice a cockroach infestation in the dark spots in your kitchen. Although they are not the best people for an extermination job, they will do whatever they can to make things right. Then they will also let you know about the developing situation.
After that, the team will start cleaning the insides of your appliances, beginning with the microwave. This little appliance can collect a ton of debris from the crumbs that fall inside, which means you shouldn’t wait till the next cleaning appointment to wipe it down.
Next, the stove drip pans and knobs get a thorough cleaning. This job may require additional equipment and cleaning agents to complete. And the result is a sparkling clean stove for your future cooking adventures.
Step 6: The Bathrooms
This step starts with applying a grout cleaner on the tab, tiles, and shower basin, then letting it sit for a while. While these surfaces sit, the team will clean the countertop, soap dish, and any other vertical surface with an all-purpose cleaner.
After a while, the cleaner will use an appropriate brush to scrub the tab, shower floor, and tiles as appropriate. Next, they will rinse it, then wipe off the excess water with a dry microfibre cloth. This is another time-consuming step that requires attention to detail.
The sink will also get a good scrub to remove any stains and lurking bacteria. Along with that, the cabinets will also get a nice wipe down to remove any dirt and debris. At this point, your basic clean is complete and the team is ready to leave your house.
