Through Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, these problems can be resolved. It is essential to get checked if someone experiences discomfort, pain, or dysfunction related to the pelvic floor. Physical therapy is advised as it can enable you to find relief and better quality of life.

There are several conditions where pelvic floor therapy is required, such as pelvic floor dysfunction.

Pelvic floor dysfunction

This is caused when the pelvic muscles are not functioning correctly. These muscles are responsible for hold together the reproduction and the digestive organs in their place. Therefore, all these muscles must be relaxed and not tense.

If it is the latter, it can lead to multiple problems such as constipation, frequent urination and, unstable bowel control. In addition, the condition can be caused by several issues, including age, obesity, and pregnancy.

Solution

In any situation, physical therapy is needed to solve the dysfunction. For example, many people experience pelvic floor dysfunction after surgery regarding the pelvic area. After which, physical therapy is required to retain or regain muscle retention.

To regain muscle functionality, several exercises are needed, which result’s in making the muscles stronger. A good physiotherapist would carefully examine the pelvic muscles and then deduce the problem and hence the solution.

The result would be to regain the muscle’s functionality and relieve any discomfort being experienced. Through this, the patient can return to their daily routine.

Physical therapy

The techniques used to resolve pelvic floor dysfunction include trigger point therapy, Kegels, and electrical stimulation.

The three-point therapy includes putting pressure on specific pressure points on the body. The pressure points have a direct effect on the pelvic floor, which helps condition them.

Kegels can help with the pain that is felt during sex or urination. This involves contracting and relaxing the pelvic muscles. A physiotherapist can adequately guide the patient on how to do Kegels the right way.

Electrical stimulation can be used to relieve pain in the pelvic area. This is also used for muscle spasms, and athletes regularly use the technique. This can help muscle retention along with tissue repair. In addition, it reduces swelling, soreness and increases blood circulation in the area for faster recovery.

These techniques are pretty effective in muscle recovery from pelvic floor dysfunction. Along with biofeedback which analysis the muscle contractions in the pelvic area. This is used to measure the progress of the other exercises and how long they are necessary. Through scanning specific areas of the pelvic region, the physiotherapist can know how well the muscles are recovered or if they are even recovering.
