What Prostate Cancer Surgeons Do For Their Patients?

Sharing is caring!

The number of people being diagnosed with cancer is increasing per day and the main reasons for this situation are the changing lifestyles including food habits, lack of exercise, stress, pollution, etc.

Breast cancer, colon and rectal cancer, endometrial cancer, lung cancer, etc are the commonly diagnosed types of cancers. One of the cancers in this list is prostate cancer that occurs in the prostate which is a small gland in males. The function of this little walnut-shaped gland is to produce seminal fluid and to nourish and carry sperms.

More often this cancer grows only slowly and more often shows the nature of being confined within the prostate gland and hence does not cause much harm. But some prostate cancer spreads fastly and is dangerous the infected men. When looking for ways to support prostate health, supplements like Prostate SP and Gorilla Flow Prostate are often considered. Prostate SP focuses on natural ingredients that may help maintain prostate function, while Gorilla Flow Prostate aims to enhance overall prostate health by promoting better urinary flow and reducing discomfort associated with prostate issues.

The common symptoms of this cancer are pain while urinating, blood in urine, blood in semen, Erectile dysfunction, sudden weight loss, bone pain, etc. Varieties of treatment are available for prostate cancers such as

  • Radiation Therapy
  • Cryotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormone Therapy
  • Targeted Therapy
  • Prostate Surgery

Prostate Surgery

A prostate cancer surgeon will be the one performing the surgery for prostate cancer patients whose condition is getting worse due to the symptoms. The most commonly performed surgery for this cancer is radical prostatectomy and during the surgery, the entire gland along with some tissues surrounding it including seminal vessels will be removed.

In Laparoscopic prostatectomy, the prostate cancer surgeon will make some incisions and to remove the prostrate, will use long surgical tools. The surgeon has two ways to hold and use the tools and those are either by him or her or by using robotic arms being controlled by control panels.

Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy

Open prostatectomy has two kinds, one is Radical retropubic prostatectomy and the other one is Radical perineal prostatectomy. In the first kind, the prostrate cancer surgeon will make an incision in the patient’s lower abdomen from the belly button to the pubic bone.

The surgery will be done only after either giving the patient general anesthesia or after giving spinal or epidural anesthesia. A catheter will be placed in the penis once the gland is removed to drain the bladder and the patient have to urinate through the tube for about three weeks unless the wounds get healed.

Radical Perineal Prostatectomy

In this kind of open surgery, the prostate cancer surgeon will make a cut not at the lower abdomen but between the anus and scrotum. Unlike the radical retropubic prostatectomy, this is not being practiced frequently for the chances of arising erection problems are high and also because the nearby lymph nodes cannot be removed in this case.

But the perineal surgery is less painful and is easier for recovery, unlike the other one. In this case, also, the patient has to depend upon the catheter being placed in the penis for urination. Once the wounds got healed and the catheter is removed the patient could naturally urinate.

There are certain other surgeries too for prostate cancer and the surgeons will suggest the suitable type for their patients. Do consult a specialist if the symptoms of cancer exist in you and the treatments will be effective if diagnosed earlier.

If surgery is needed, the Cirujano de c?ncer de pr?stata will take care of it and he will explain to the patient regarding the surgery that is to be conducted in them before doing it. So, never ignore the hints your body gives and take effective treatments. Get to know about the risks in various types of surgeries and choose the right one with the guidance of the surgeon.
