The vast majority of people don’t like to travel to cold places. They want the sun, warm air, beaches, and tropical cocktails. They want to lay poolside. But when you’re traveling to warm places, you will inevitably get hot, sweaty, and irritable. Travel isn’t always easy, even when you’re going on vacation.

Whether you’re going to Cancun or Bali, packing the right clothes is imperative. You won’t want to be sticky and uncomfortable, instead choose clothes that breathe. That’s why you should be sure to pack specific items when you’re going somewhere warm. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re packing your bags.

Shorts

While it might seem obvious, packing the right pairs of shorts will do you wonders. Look into lightweight options you can wear on a hike, in the city, or by the coast. Think about bringing a pair that can double as a swimsuit. When you do your best to find the right shorts for your trip, you will be comfortable and cool. Don’t focus so much on style. Instead go for function. Light shorts with a few pockets will make all the difference.

Dresses

For ladies, dresses are also a great option because they are versatile. You can bring a dress that will double as a way to keep you cool on the road, taking a hike, or going out to dinner. Packing a few different dresses will provide the versatility you need to change what you are doing in an instant. When you’re traveling, it’s good to be quick on your feet and be able to change plans wearing whatever clothes you have on. Another option is plus size rompers, which will provide support and a breathable piece to wear in the heat. With dresses, you have the ability to change the outfit fairly easily. Don’t overlook dresses. They will come in handy when you’re on vacation or traveling more ruggedly.

Light, Supportive Shoes

When you’re going somewhere warm, you don’t want heavy shoes. Your feet will get hot and stink, which can cause discomfort and blisters. Bring a pair or two of shoes that are both light and supportive. You want to be comfortable but stable. While these types of footwear aren’t necessarily cheap, you will benefit greatly from an amazing pair of shoes. You’ll be able to do more and feel better than you would if your feet were hot, sweaty, hurting, cut, and blistered.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a very helpful thing to bring to warm, sunny places. Protect your eyes from the sun and make your trip more enjoyable with a good pair of sunglasses that you won’t mind if you lose. You shouldn’t bring your best pair, you never know what will happen when you’re on the road. If you forget sunglasses, you’ll probably regret it. Sunglasses may not be at the top of your packing list, but maybe they should be.

Sunblock

However dark your skin in, bringing sunscreen when you’re traveling to sunny, hot places is a must. While this is something you can easily buy when you arrive at your destination, it’s a good idea to bring a high-quality sunblock that will last you throughout your whole trip. Don’t get burned just because you forget to put it on, you’ll be glad you brought it when others are in pain and you’re doing just fine.

Light Shirts & Blouses

Whatever shirts or blouses you choose to bring, see to it that they are light and breathable. The last thing you want when you’re in a tropical, humid place like Thailand, Singapore, or Bali is for your clothes to stick to your sweaty body. It is unbelievably uncomfortable. Bring shirts that are a little big and airy. Forget most of the fancy dress shirts, when you’re on vacation you mainly want to be comfortable. Bring one nice shirt for when you go out to dinner and bring lightweight items otherwise.

Traveling to warm, hot, and humid places is what a lot of people want to do when they go on vacation, but they quickly realize how suffocating and uncomfortable it can be. However, if you pack the right clothes and accessories, you will be laughing while others are complaining about the sun, humidity, and heat.
