Women’s Guide: How to Wear a Biker Jacket?

Sharing is caring!

Women around the globe struggle with the issue of choosing an outfit on a daily basis. There are so many factors to consider every time they have to create a new ensemble. The majority of items in their closets are restricted to one situation, season, and occasion. Luckily, this isn’t the case with biker jacket women, as they can be worn anywhere, at any time if outfitted correctly.

The key thing to focus on here is the condition “if outfitted correctly.” What does it mean? For some, it means the colour choices of the outfit. For some, it is the things that you wear under the jacket, and for others, it is the fit and finish of your jacket. In reality, however, outfitting a women’s leather jacket correctly requires a balanced combination of all these and much more.

Color combinations:

When most people think about leather garments, especially women’s leather jackets, the only colours that come to their mind are black and brown, that’s it. This is not a bad place to start, as both of these colours, in particular some shades of brown, are excellent daily driver material. But you have to understand that these are not the only available and acceptable colours.

Secondary color options:

To start things off are colours that are not as common as black and brown but are still relatively well-known. These include moderate hues like maroon and tan, both of which have their own charm. The colours that work best with these are more on the lighter side of things. The only dark colour that looks decent with these women’s leather jackets is solid black. Otherwise, going with the light blues and whites is the best option.

Vibrant colour options:

Then there are the unusual leather jacket colours like bright blue, sharp red, white and silver. Surprisingly, integrating these vibrant hues into your already present wardrobe isn’t as big of an issue. Blue fits nicely with all of your black and blue outfits. Red works great with almost anything, except for maybe bright blues. Finally, the white and silver are just blank slates for you to get creative on and experiment with shirt/trouser colours that you won’t normally wear.

Black and brown:

Lastly, black and brown are considered universal outfitting colors for a reason. You can wear any color underneath them, and it will look good. There are, obviously, combinations that look extra sweet, for example, white with black jackets and blue with brown ones.

Occasion:

The way you want to wear a women’s leather jacket largely depends on the occasion or situation you are going to be in. You can just not worry about it, and these jackets will look alright for the most part. But you do want to look the best you can, and dressing up for the occasion is the best way to do it.

Luckily, women’s biker jackets are excellent at fitting just about any scenario you can find yourself in. The only hurdle is finding the right type of outfit. Here are some of the most common occasions and how your biker jacket can help you look good on them:

Going to work / Smart Casual or Business settings:

Most adults have to spend at least five days every week at work. So, finding outfits that not only fit the workplace code but also look good will improve your life in a very tangible manner. Traditional work outfits like dresses are a perfect match for leather biker jackets. Cotton shirts are an especially crisp option for a fabulous look.

The only thing to keep in mind in this scenario is the detail on your jacket and its glossiness. Jackets that are way too shiny or have many details like zippers and metallic buttons, even if compliant with the dress code, would not look particularly good in an office setting.

Going to parties / hanging out with friends:

Parties and hangouts are the places where we want to look our best, and biker jackets are ideal for this task. Remember the detailed and glossy jackets mentioned in the last point as examples of what not to wear to work? Well, they are pretty much the stars of hangout/party fashion.

This is not to say that it is the only good option. Outfits created with glossy leather jackets for women as the centrepiece will attract a lot of attention towards you. If you are not comfortable with that and don’t want to stand out, jackets like suede bikers are excellent options for a minimal yet still immaculate look.

Just chilling / doing the chores:

This is the look for weekends and holidays when you are going out to just relax or get things like groceries, but don’t want to look like someone walking in their sleep pyjamas. Sweatshirts and baggy jeans plus a women’s biker jacket are a combo that is simple to pull while not compromising on overall looks.

The only thing that you should keep in mind is to not go overboard with colours. Other than that, you are free to top off any comfortable clothing like hoodies with leather jackets. As a side note, a pair of skinny jeans, a hooded sweatshirt, and a leather biker is a combo that works surprisingly well in parties/hangouts as well.

Fit and finish:

The fit is another major, often overlooked, factor when choosing to wear a women’s biker jacket. You could have the world’s most beautiful jacket on the world’s prettiest women; if the fit is not right, it would all feel off and weird in an unexplainable way.

The correct fit:

Many people, when they hear about the importance of fitting, think that tight-fitting is the correct way. This is true but to an extent. An overly tight leather jacket for women is just as bad as an oversized one. Generally, you want to wear a jacket that is as close to your body as possible but still has enough wiggle room to allow free movement. The length of the jacket and the shoulder width are the prime things to keep in mind.

Oversized jackets:

You might be thinking, “what about the oversized jacket styling option? Is that not a good idea?” Well, it is, but it isn’t as easy as wearing your own perfect fit. What might look like a model with “just a large jacket” is actually a well thought out outfit where the size is meticulously chosen by an expert. So, unless you know what you are doing, staying far away from oversized jackets is a decent idea.

Closing thoughts:

At the end of the day, the choice of what to wear and how to wear it is up to you. The above-mentioned points are not some hard-coded rules about wearing jackets. These are just general guidelines and suggestions derived from testing and experimenting. You can put on outfits that are way outside the realm of these suggestions. As long as you think that you look good in them, nothing and no one can take that away from you.
