Are you looking for a fun toy for your kids this Christmas? Have you ever gotten them a radio controlled car, helicopter, or other item? Those are pretty awesome. But now there is an even cooler infrared (IR) controlled item – the Air Hogs Vectron Wave. I found out about this great toy after visiting the Walmart Toyland event I previously posted about.
The Air Hogs Vectron Wave is a hand controlled UFO. That’s right – no controller is necessary to fly it!
The way the Vectron Wave works is that you first start it out on a smooth surface. When you turn it on, it first initializes the sensors and then a propeller starts to spin. It will go up to the ceiling and them flot back down to get a sense of where it is. Then you just use your hands to control the heights the Vectron Wave goes.
Included with the Vectron Wave is a charging station (which requires 6 AA batteries – thank goodness we had that many!). I think it’s pretty cool that the charging station also has a button on it so if you lose control of the Vectron Wave you can press the button while pointing it at the UFO and it will turn off and hover to the ground.
Riley and our family have had so much fun playing with our Vectron Wave. She really gets a kick with controlling it with her hand. I have to admit, it’s pretty funny to watch ours dog and cat (we have two cats, but one of them is afraid of it) watch it fly throughout our house. I think it’s pretty cool that I can teach my daughter about gravity, force and air pressure with this fun UFO. There are sticks that you can attach to the top of it so you can play catch. That has been lots of fun. This toy is recommended for indoor use. I know I definitely won’t be using ours outside since we are in a pretty windy area.
