When you think of all the different ways to travel, you probably think of the common and traditional car, bus or plane. However, if you want to make a trip a bit more interesting, exciting and add some adventure to it, there are other ways you can make a journey. Here are a few unique ways to travel.
Set Sail on a Cruise
Taking a cruise is not only a unique way to travel, it is also very convenient, easy to plan for and has a great value. This is because on a cruise, everything you would normally be spending separate amounts on, such as lodging, transportation, food, entertainment and other activities, are all included and are on the ship for you. This makes it easier for you to relax and enjoy all of the fun and excitement a cruise has to offer. You also get to see multiple different destinations without having to pack up all of your luggage, travel somewhere else and get new lodging.
When it comes to cruises, some of the most popular ones include luxurious Mexico cruises, where cruisers get to enjoy beautiful beaches, traditional Mexican cuisine and exploring ancient Mayan ruins. Other frequently visited cruise destinations include Italy, Greece, The Bahamas, the Caribbean and Alaska. No matter the destination, a cruise is a distinct travel experience that includes all the joys of travel and less of the hassles.
Take an Overnight Sleeper Train
Traveling a long journey by train is another mode of travel that can make for a unique trip. When traveling by train, you don’t have to deal with deciding routes or waiting in traffic. Traveling onboard a sleeper train, you get to relax more and see the scenery along the way as you make stops to spend time in different destinations. Being able to dine on the train and have your own room makes for a comfortable trip. One example of such a trip is an itinerary that starts in Chicago and travels west across the country to Seattle, allowing travelers to take in the views of the plains along the way. From Seattle, a train may travel south to San Francisco. There travelers can see some of beautiful northern California before the train would head back across the country to Chicago. Another example of this convenient type of travel is a Trans-Siberian Rail Expedition. The famous Trans-Siberian Railway route is more than 5,700 miles and goes through dozens of cities. Starting in Vladivostok, Russia and ending up in Moscow, Russia, the journey makes stops in multiple Russian cities as well as in Siberia and Mongolia. These types of trips are especially unique because of the scenery along the way.
Travel By Horse, Camel or Dogsled
While it may not be an option in all destinations, another very unique way to get somewhere is by riding a horse, camel or dogsled. In Ireland, there are Clissmann Horse Caravans that allow travelers to experience the beauty of the countryside while traveling by a horse pulled caravan. Traveling by horseback on tours in Colorado and New Mexico is another example. In Morocco, you can take a camel riding tour where you will walk and ride a camel through the desert and see the city of Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In Alaska, dogsledding dates back hundreds of years. Dogsledding has been used as a way to travel, for delivering mail and as a sport. When visiting Alaska, you can learn how mushing works and then travel by dog sledding too. Of course, before experiencing the unique fun and beauty of traveling in these ways, make sure you do your research to make sure that the animals are being treated right.
These unique modes of travel may not be the first that come to mind. They aren’t the most common, but they are great ways to experience and explore different parts of the country and world.
